December Holidays 2020
Jersey City Holiday Meal Exchange
A free, volunteer-run service to match folks requesting holiday meals with their neighbors who want to prepare and deliver meals
For updates follow us on Facebook or Insta @JCHolidayMealExchange
How it works
Sign ups are open from now until Sunday, Dec 20. You'll be notified of your match as soon as it's made.
Volunteer Captains will work directly with both their Volunteer team and the Recipient family to ensure that they receive a full, festive, ready-to-reheat meal via contactless delivery between 10 am - 4 pm on Wednesday, Dec 23.
Volunteer Cooks, Volunteer Bakers, and Distributors will be assigned to a team, led by a Volunteer Captain. Each team will support 1 Recipient family.
The JC Holiday Meal Exchange is connecting neighbors who can provide meals with neighbors who need them. If you are not able to volunteer at this time but would like to help out financially, we will either connect you to a local caterer to support the cost of a recipient family or we will direct you to other local organizations doing similar work.
There are no requirements around who should ask for support and who shouldn’t. If you feel that, for whatever reason, you would like the support of the community in providing your family's holiday meal, please sign up! This could mean you’re having a difficult time financially, you can’t shop for or purchase a prepared meal due to other constraints on your time, you are grieving, you’ve just had a baby, etc.
Your neighbors want to lend a helping hand.
Volunteers can sign up for one or more of the following roles:
Volunteer Captain - coordinate Volunteer Team to ensure that your participating family receives their meal
Volunteer Cook or Baker - cook or bake enough servings for the entire participating family (up to 8 ppl)
Distributor - pick up prepared dishes and deliver to participating family
