Domestic Acknowledgement

Building on inspiration from Bread + Puppet theatre,  a human-puppet hybrid and papier maché costume are created to perform at a popular weekend farmer's market in Buffalo. 

The stationary performer in a humongous skirt is called Nonna Vedere, she is the grandmother who sees. Roaming performer is a "bowl of cereal for dinner." Each performer has several different handmade buttons and stickers honoring the unseen labor of domestic spaces. They acknowledge the importance of doing laundry, grocery shopping, feeding dependents, brushing teeth, cleaning house, transporting children to activities, overseeing homework, reading bedtime stories, and other maintenance labor.
