The Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise Cancelling Wireless Headphones in Blackout Pop Pink are built specifically for children aged seven and up who need protection from loud environments. The standout feature here is the combination of advanced Active Noise Cancellation and a strict 85dB volume limit. This means that whether your child is watching movies in a busy household or sitting in a noisy airport, the audio environment remains serene without risking damage to their developing ears. The headphones create a barrier against background chatter, allowing them to focus entirely on educational content or entertainment.
In daily use, these headphones shine because they are designed to survive rough handling. They feature an IPX4 sweatproof rating, which makes them resilient enough for active play or outdoor activities where sweat might be an issue. The enclosure is made of durable plastic that can take a beating, yet the ear cushions remain soft enough for hours of continuous wear. The adjustable headband ensures a cozy fit that reduces pressure on the ears, making them ideal for long flights or car rides where a child needs to stay occupied.
The main trade-off with this model is the on-ear placement. While the plush padding helps mitigate pressure, some users might find on-ear designs less isolating than full over-ear cups for very sensitive listeners. Additionally, while the foldable design makes them portable, the inclusion of a wired connection is a double-edged sword; it offers reliability but adds a cable that can get tangled if not stored properly. Despite this, the ability to listen indefinitely via an auxiliary cord when the battery runs out is a practical safety net for parents.
Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise
This version of the Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise headphones comes in a striking Blackout Funky Green color, offering a slightly different aesthetic while maintaining the same core functionality. Like its counterparts, it features the crucial 85dB volume limiting technology, ensuring that a child's hearing remains protected regardless of how loudly they turn the volume up. The Active Noise Cancellation works to block out the chaos of a bustling home or travel hub, creating a quiet pocket of space for learning or relaxation.
What sets this specific iteration apart is its Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity paired with a remote controller for media control. This allows for intuitive management of playback without needing to fumble with a screen. The design includes soft ear cushions that adapt well to smaller heads, and the over-ear shape provides a bit more coverage around the ear cup compared to purely on-ear models. This extra coverage can help with passive noise isolation even before the electronic ANC kicks in.
However, the battery life on this model averages around 10 hours, which is solid but not industry-leading for those planning cross-country trips. You will likely need to recharge it after a full day of school or travel. Also, while the carrying case material is listed as plastic, it may not offer the same level of crush resistance as harder cases found in other premium lines. Parents should ensure the headphones are stored carefully when not in use to prevent accidental damage to the earcups.

The Lavender variant of the Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise headphones brings a softer color palette to the lineup, perfect for kids who prefer pastel tones. It retains the essential 85dB volume limit and Active Noise Cancellation, making it just as safe and effective as the green or pink versions. The key difference lies in its control scheme; this model utilizes touch controls rather than physical buttons. This modern approach allows for quick adjustments to music tracks or calls with a simple tap, which many older children find easier to master.
For families looking for a completely wireless experience, this model removes the headphone jack entirely. This streamlines the setup process, eliminating the need to manage cables during playtime. The fabric and foam materials used in the enclosure add a layer of breathability, reducing heat buildup during summer months or intense activity. The frequency response covers a standard range, delivering clear vocals and decent bass suitable for pop music and cartoons alike.
The primary downside is the lack of a wired fallback option. If the battery dies during a critical moment, like a long flight, you cannot simply plug them in to keep listening. You must wait for a charge cycle to resume. Furthermore, while the touch controls are convenient, they can sometimes be overly sensitive, leading to accidental pauses if the child brushes against the ear cup while adjusting their hair or glasses.
Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise
This Purple edition of the Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise headphones focuses on versatility and smart integration. It features the same robust 85dB safety limit and Active Noise Cancellation that define the series. What makes this model unique is its compatibility with a dedicated app for media control. This allows for deeper customization of the listening experience, letting users adjust settings directly from a smartphone interface. The Bluetooth range extends up to 9.14 meters, providing ample freedom of movement within a room or house without losing connection.
The build quality is enhanced with silicone and thermoplastic elastomer materials, giving the headphones a slightly softer, more flexible feel compared to the rigid plastic of other models. This flexibility can make them more comfortable for kids who move around a lot, as the headband bends easily without breaking. The dynamic drivers deliver powerful sound that fills the ear cups effectively, ensuring that the audio quality remains high even at lower volumes.
The trade-off here is the reliance on the app for certain functions. Without a smartphone nearby, some advanced controls might be inaccessible, reverting to basic media playback. Additionally, the charging time is listed at 15 hours, which is quite long compared to the actual battery life of 15 hours. This suggests a slower charging cycle, meaning parents need to plan ahead if the headphones run out of power mid-day.
Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise
The Whiteout Bright Red version brings a bold, energetic look to the Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise lineup. It maintains the core promise of safety with the 85dB volume limit and offers robust Active Noise Cancellation to handle noisy environments. Like the lavender model, this one uses touch controls and lacks a wired headphone jack, emphasizing a fully wireless lifestyle. The frequency response is broad, covering the full spectrum from deep lows to crisp highs, making it suitable for a wide variety of music genres and video games.
Durability is a key selling point for this model, thanks to its IPX4 sweatproof rating and rugged construction. It is built to withstand the rigors of active play, including drops and spills. The soft ear cushions provide a comfortable seal, helping to enhance the noise-canceling effect by physically blocking out external sounds. The ergonomic design ensures that the headphones sit securely on a child's head without slipping, even during vigorous movement.
The main limitation is the absence of a wired connection option. If the battery fails, there is no way to continue listening without a charge. For families who prioritize constant connectivity, this could be a significant drawback. Additionally, the touch controls, while modern, require a learning curve for younger children who might accidentally trigger them with their hands or clothing.
Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise
This Whiteout Funky Green model is designed with ease of cleaning in mind, featuring a "Easy To Clean" style name. It combines the trusted 85dB volume limiting technology with Active Noise Cancellation to create a safe listening environment. The enclosure uses a mix of plastic, fabric, and memory foam, which not only adds comfort but also makes wiping down the headphones straightforward after messy meals or outdoor play. The carrying case, available in matching colors, adds a layer of protection for storage.
Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity ensures a stable connection with a range of up to 30 feet, allowing kids to roam freely around the house or yard without cutting out. The touch controls offer seamless interaction with music and calls, while the Cloud Foam-like earcups provide all-day comfort. The frequency response is tuned to deliver clear audio that is engaging for children without being harsh on the ears.
The trade-off involves the weight and bulk of the carrying case. While the case protects the headphones, it adds extra items to pack when traveling. Some parents might prefer a slimmer bag to save space in luggage. Also, like other touch-only models, the lack of physical buttons means that precise control relies entirely on the sensitivity of the sensors, which can occasionally lead to misfires.
The JLab Go Lux ANC represents a shift from kid-focused gear to a versatile option for adults, teens, and older children who need serious battery life and multi-device connectivity. These On Ear headphones boast an impressive 70+ hours of playtime on a single charge, which translates to weeks of commuting or work without needing a charger. The Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation cuts ambient noise by up to 30 dB, offering a quieter experience than the standard ANC found in many consumer headphones.
One of the most compelling features is the Multipoint Connection, which allows simultaneous pairing with two devices. This means you can answer a call on your phone while still connected to your laptop for a meeting, switching effortlessly between the two. The JLab App gives users full control over EQ settings, ANC levels, and touch controls, allowing for a personalized sound profile that adapts to individual preferences. The Cloud Foam earcups are ergonomically shaped to reduce fatigue, making them suitable for long listening sessions.
However, these headphones are not designed with the same rugged durability as the Altec Lansing kid-safe models. They lack an IPX4 sweatproof rating, so they are not ideal for intense workouts or heavy outdoor play. The on-ear design, while comfortable with cloud foam, might not provide the same level of passive isolation as over-ear cups for very sensitive listeners. Additionally, the reliance on the app for customization means that some features are less accessible without a smartphone nearby.
The final Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise model in Blackout Purple rounds out the collection with a classic, dark aesthetic that appeals to a wide range of tastes. It delivers the same reliable 85dB volume limit and Active Noise Cancellation that have defined the series. The inclusion of a protective case in the package is a significant plus, offering immediate storage and transport solutions right out of the box. The Bluetooth range of 30 feet ensures that connections remain stable even in larger rooms or open spaces.
Touch controls provide a modern interface for managing media and calls, while the adjustable headband ensures a secure fit for growing children. The frequency response is balanced, delivering clear sound that is neither too bass-heavy nor too treble-sharp. The durable plastic construction is designed to withstand the inevitable drops and bumps that come with childhood play.
The main compromise is the 10-hour battery life, which is shorter than some competitors and may require nightly charging for heavy users. While the protective case is convenient, it adds bulk to the overall package, which might be a consideration for minimalist travelers. Nevertheless, the combination of safety features, durability, and sound quality makes this a strong contender for any parent looking for a reliable pair of headphones for their child.
