In its simplest form, the AREPA is a corn bread, made most often with white corn (Cariaco) and water. To this day, Venezuelans consider this simple but succulent corn bread a daily bread. Can be served for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
This gluten free corn flour bread is typically formed in a patty shape and can be grilled, baked, or fried. After cooked, it can be cut lengthwise and stuffed with fillings ranging from the classic ham and cheese to the more complex but traditional shredded beef, chicken or pork. Also, traditional filling with black beans and avocados.
