As the assistant principal for Hauser Jr. High and currently as the Instructional Technology Coordinator for District 96, I develop and lead many different forms of professional learning for teachers. I firmly believe that professional learning must be relevant, engaging, ongoing and made personal. Supporting staff and making the professional learning personal is needed to shift instructional pedagogy and continue for us to all grow and develop.
Created a weekly video series shared with District 96 staff where I interview a staff member who shares information they are passionate about in 96 seconds or less. This has been a great tool promoting teacher agency or voice in our District.
Using YouTube, I stream short professional development opportunities for our staff members to watch live or when they are able to do so. This video series is an introduction to various topics which we explore in more detail during coaching opportunities.
Offer professional development opportunities every Monday - Thursday on a variety of innovative and technology strategies to teachers during lunch.
Organized and developed District digital citizenship activities for students K - 8 using Google's Be Internet Awesome and Common Sense Media for Education.
Work with teachers and staff members during team meetings, individual plan time, before/after school and during lunch hours for coaching collaboration and coaching.
Organized and developed District institute days with our assistant superintendent incorporating breakout sessions similar to a conference.
Work closely and coach a group of 18 teachers across all grade levels on implementing instructional technology and innovative ideas into their classroom and instruction.
Coach and assist teachers in the evaluation process as well as manage our teacher evaluation system.
Organized a digital and traditional face-to-face Google Bootcamp to coach and collaborate with teachers on how they can incorporate Google tools into their instruction.
Created and developed D96 University for District 96 staff members. "Courses" in our university are offered digitally or face-to-face.
