Musical Theatre Intensive in Mezzano, Italy - 2017
Now accepting applications!
I am so excited to announce that I will be Music Director for Music Academy International's (MAI) Musical Theatre Intensive in the spectacular setting of the Italian alps (The Dolomites). The program offers the unique opportunity to study with noted academics and Broadway professionals in an intense yet supportive atmosphere in one of the most beautiful natural settings in the world. Last year was my first year working with the festival and it was a life-changing experience. I invite and encourage any college and advanced high school students to apply!
MAI has an outstanding reputation as one of the premier training programs for young artists today. The four-week Musical Theatre program includes the production of two musicals and a gala concert performed in a variety of settings for international tourists and locals alike. In addition to these ample performance opportunities, students will receive individual vocal coaching and participate in master classes with myself and the esteemed faculty including:
- Renowned Broadway voice teacher (and director of the MT Studio), Marishka Wierzbicki;
- My brilliant colleague from the U-M Department of Musical Theatre, Professor Linda Goodrich;
- Music Director Professor Robert Meffe, Head of the SDSU MFA Musical Theatre Program at San Diego State University;
- Professor Vincent DeGeorge, Chair of Acting for the Lyric Stage at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
Based in the the unparalleled setting of Italy's Primiero Valley, the intensive is complemented by a full schedule of enrichment opportunities. Trips to Venice, concert-going in Verona, and a multitude of hikes, cable-cars and canyoning trips in the Dolomites provide lifelong memories. ur performances will be in historic and amazing venues including Mezzano’s open air Piazza Brolo. Students come from all around the world and together you’ll have the amazing opportunity to learn, laugh, explore and perform in some of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
MAI is very much aware of the financial pressures facing young performers. The tuition, which includes housing and private vocal coaching, is extremely competitive and offers the additional value as a transformative international experience. This is an incredible opportunity to study abroad with Broadway professionals; please email me (jason (at) jasondebord.com) if you'd like to discuss this amazing opportunity further. I’d love for you to join us! You can also visit Music Academy International's website for more information.

Halftime with MMB!
On September 24th, 2016, I had the distinct privilege to help coordinate, arrange and conduct the halftime program with the Michigan Marching Band and our own Dept. of Musical Theatre at Michigan Stadium. The spirit, musicianship and sense of service of MMB and Michigan Bands embody was something I'll never forget. This was an incredibly exciting moment for our MT students and faculty alike!
