As the crisp air of winter descended upon the serene landscape of Niigata Prefecture, the Pandaruman Naeba Prince Ski Schoolthe welcoming embrace of the Naeba Prince Hotel, transformed into a realm of enchantment and wonder. It is here, amidst the flurry of snowflakes and the laughter of children, that I, Andyni Yuthika Risqi, bearing the student ID number 11179352A from ITH 2, found myself immersed in a cultural tapestry rich with learning and growth. With a heart full of gratitude, I reflect upon the honor bestowed upon me to venture to Japan, a land steeped in tradition and modernity. My roles were as varied: an assistant to the ski instructor, a beacon of joy within the panda mascot costume, and a guardian of order as the ticketing staff for the Panda Kids’ Area. Each position offered a window into the vibrant of experiences that define the winter break from 5th January to 23rd February.
The Pandaruman Naeba Prince Ski School became a winter wonderland for the young and the young at heart, a place where every turn brought new adventures and every snowfall whispered the promise of discovery. Entrusted with the responsibility of guiding the children through their paces. From the slopes to the sanctuary of the Panda Kids’ Area, my journey was a mosaic of moments that painted a picture of the joyous spirit of the season. As I pen down these reflections, I invite you to join me on this unforgattable experience for my winter break at the Pandaruman Naeba Prince Ski School, where every day was a chapter in a story of wonder, learning, and unforgettable memories.
The Charm of the Panda Mascot: Donning the panda mascot costume was far more than playing a part; it was a transformative experience that spread cheer and excitement among the children. I wore this panda mascott each session before the lesson start, this mascott could help to cheer the children also the parents themselves. The soft, genial panda stood as a beacon of warmth and amusement on the slopes, turning ski and snowboard lessons into a thrilling escapade. Observing the children’s faces light up with glee as they came forward, eager for a hug or a high-five with their panda pal, was deeply moving. For two months, I played a key role in ensuring a fluid and safe entry to the resort. My proficiency in Japanese, English, and Chinese grew as I interacted with tourists from various countries, earning accolades for my communication and customer service. This interaction with parents and children worldwide has shown me the significant effect we have on young learners’ experiences. The blend of education, play, and mascot engagement fosters a nurturing environment where children gain not just a new sport but also social abilities and fond memories.
Ticketing Staff: Reflecting on my time at Vocational High School, which specialized in the tourism industry, I recall my role as Ticketing Staff. The Panda Kids’ Area was a haven for practice and play. There, children could pause their slope activities to play with toys, build snowmen, or simply relish the snowy surroundings. My position in ticketing was crucial for controlling the influx of young skiers and making sure each child had their opportunity in this secure and monitored play area. I verified the validity of admission tickets for over 100 guests in two months, ensuring a smooth and protected entry to the premises. I provided assistance to children and adults with special needs, they are allowed to practicing their ski or snowboard here (we called them Panda Area) creating each with kindness and empathy, adhering to safety protocols, and resolving any issues that arose. Serving tourists from different countries further improved my language skills in Japanese, English, and Chinese, leading to positive feedback and recognition for my communication and customer service excellence.
Supporting the Ski Instructor As an assistant to the ski instructor, I was fortunate to be involved in the children’s educational progression. From their cautious initial steps on the snow to their confident slides down the beginner slopes, each child’s development was a testament to their determination and the school’s effective teaching strategies. I assisted them with all necessary equipment, including goggles, ski boots, gloves, helmets, and everything else required for their ski practice. Working alongside the ski instructor, I learned a great deal, especially about the instructor’s patience, how they provided clear instructions to children and parents, offered thorough information, responded professionally, and treated the children with care throughout the lesson, which I greatly admire. I learned how they taught the basics of skiing with correct posture and movements, using various indoor and outdoor gear like arches, ball arches, rings, and triangular handle cones to improve stability. Considering the diverse origins of our visitors, this was an excellent chance for me to practice my language skills. I further developed my Chinese and Japanese to better assist the instructor. We created a secure and enjoyable learning atmosphere by managing classes effectively, ensuring the children had the best possible experience in Japan.
As I conclude this introductory passage, I stand at the threshold of a narrative rich with personal evolution and shared joy. The Pandaruman Naeba Prince Ski School, a bastion of youthful exuberance and learning, has been the canvas upon which my winter’s tale was artfully painted. From the first snowflake to the last, each moment was a brushstroke on the vibrant mural of my journey. I extend my deepest appreciation for the opportunity to weave my thread into the fabric of this community, to contribute to the tapestry of experiences that will linger in the hearts of all who partook in this winter’s magic. May the memories we’ve created resonate as a testament to the beauty of embracing new cultures, the thrill of adventure, and the timeless bond formed when hearts are warmed by the simple act of sharing a smile beneath the falling snow.
