This Privacy Policy applies to the "Jap Counter" mobile application (hereinafter referred to as the "App"). The App is developed as a free, offline, and distraction-free utility for spiritual chanting and meditation. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy.
2. Information Collection and Use
We DO NOT collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information, personally identifiable information (PII), or sensitive user data. The App functions entirely offline without requiring user registration, login, or internet connectivity.
3. Local Data Storage (SharedPreferences)
All data generated within the App—including:
- Current chant counts and completed Mala history
- Custom mantra names entered by the user
- Sankalp (target) values
- Theme preferences (OLED Dark / Light modes) and language settings
...is saved strictly locally on your individual device using native Android local storage (SharedPreferences). This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to any external server or third party. Clearing the App's data or uninstalling the App will permanently delete this local information.
4. Device Permissions Used
The App utilizes a minimal set of system permissions strictly for providing core functionality:
- Vibration (VIBRATE): Used solely to provide haptic feedback upon tapping the screen and completing a 108 Mala cycle.
- Wake Lock / Keep Screen On (WAKE_LOCK): Used strictly to prevent the screen from turning off or sleeping while the user is actively chanting.
- Text-to-Speech (TTS): Utilizes the device's built-in offline Text-to-Speech engine to provide voice announcements upon Mala completion. No audio data is recorded or transmitted.
5. Third-Party Services, Tracking, and Advertising The App is completely ad-free. We do not use any third-party advertising networks, analytics SDKs, user tracking tools, or behavioral profiling services.
6. Children's Privacy
Since our App does not collect any personal data, internet usage data, or contact details, it is completely safe for children and users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 13.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Effective Date." You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
