The first four commands run fine, but when I upload the iBEC image, irecovery freezes at 70.1% for about 15 seconds, and then the USB connection resets. Adding -v doesn't give me any extra information, other than saying "Unable to upload data to device" after crashing. I've calculated that 70.1% is around 524288 bytes (512k), so is there some limit to the file size that irecovery can send? What am I doing wrong?

libirecovery can be compiled in Linux. I found I had to install the libreadline-dev package in my Ubuntu install, but you may find you have to do more depending on the packages you already have installed. Building requires you to execute the autogen.sh followed by make and then make install. I had to also run ldconfig to register the library since this was not done automatically.

On first blush, it might seem that the solution to my problem was the command irecovery -r to reset the device. But that is not so. Instead, I needed to enter the shell, change and environment variable, and reboot.

Note for A10 and newer devices ONLY: Apple unified all iBoot images and as a result booting iBEC is slightly different. After sending iBSS, the device will already be in recovery. in order to boot iBEC from iBSS, we must send the go command from iBSS recovery mode.irecovery -c go 589ccfa754
