Meet Janell

Hello!

I'm Janell

Prescott Valley is known for its wide open grasslands, mountain views, the native pronghorn, Glassford Hill and dark skies. I think those community assets are worth preserving.

My position on Glassford Dells Regional Park

The natural open space on Glassford Hill should be conserved and enjoyed by residents and visitors through passive recreational uses such as hiking, biking and horseback riding.

In the Fall of 2022, the design team at The Planning Center created conceptual plans for the Town of Prescott Valley depicting a variety of "active" recreational uses including sports fields, a lift-served downhill mountain bike track system, ziplines, an amphitheater and much more. All of these proposed uses would require the construction of prepared facilities that would cut into Glassford Hill, destroying its character and disturbing the neighborhoods surrounding it.

I oppose "active" recreational uses on Glassford Hill.

I support the conservation of natural open space on Glassford Hill and the "passive" recreational uses, including the interconnecting hiking trails, as detailed in the Regional Park Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) which was signed by the Town of Prescott Valley, the City of Prescott and Yavapai County and as described in the Prescott Valley General Plan 2035.
