MONEY PROJECT OVERVIEW
MONEY PROJECT OVERVIEW
MONEY is a community-focused fintech banking app designed for middle-aged users, offering a simplified interface that makes digital banking more approachable. With features like transactions, transfers, savings, and card management, the goal was to build trust and provide an easy-to-use solution tailored to those less familiar with complex mobile banking platforms.
GOAL: To design a simplified, trustworthy, and user-friendly fintech banking app (Money) that empowers middle-aged users in the community to confidently manage transactions, savings, transfers, and cards without the complexity of traditional digital banking platforms. As the UI designer, my objectives were to:
Design a simple, clutter-free interface that reduces friction for middle-aged users.
Ensure readability and accessibility with clear typography, bold icons, and intuitive layouts.
Build trust and confidence through a professional, consistent, and modern visual style.
Highlight the most-used features (transactions, savings, transfers, cards) for quick access.
Streamline navigation to minimize errors and cognitive load.
Create an overall experience that feels reliable, secure, and easy to use.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Jason is a bachelor who needs to be able to track his financial activities, transfer funds safely and manage his finances without having worries with performing those tasks and with his financial security and privacy.
ROLE FOR PROJECT : UI Designer
PROJECT DURATION : 13 Weeks
DESIGN TOOL : Figma
TARGET USER: Middle-aged users
RESEARCH AND DISCOVERY
To better understand the needs of middle-aged users, I conducted informal interviews, observations, and reviewed competitor banking apps. The goal was to uncover their challenges with digital banking and identify opportunities to simplify the experience.
Key Insights:
Many users struggled with overly complex app layouts and preferred clear instructions and larger icons.
Security was a top priority; users wanted reassurance through visible security features like OTPs and transaction alerts.
Users valued core functions (transactions, transfers, savings, cards) over extra features. Too many options created confusion.
Readable fonts, high contrast, and minimal steps were essential for reducing mistakes and improving comfort.
Users expected transactions to be fast and reliable, with clear confirmation messages to avoid anxiety.
RESEARCH METHOD: Usability testing (LO-FI prototype tested with 5 users)
USER STORY
As a middle-aged bank customer, I want to be able to easily send money, save, and manage my cards through a simple app, so that I can handle my financial transactions without stress or needing to visit the bank physically.
PERSONA
DESIGN FRAMEWORK
Empathize: During this stage, I conducted several user research, to identify their pain points, behaviors and unmet needs in financial management.
Define: I set out clear goals for the app, such as secure transactions and easy-to-use tools, and listed out the key features needed to meet user needs.
Ideate: I came up with as many design solutions as possible, which includes brainstorming sessions on how the app should look and work, and deciding which features are most important to include first.
Prototype: I created a basic version of how the application would look and how it would work.
Test: I tested the app with real users to see if they find it easy to use, at the same time, fixing and problems and adding updates, making the app better based on their feedbacks.
