Paddington Recreation Ground covers 27 acres in the heart of central London. Paddington Recreation Ground has a wide range of facilities from gyms and a fitness studio to outdoor tennis courts. Cricket fans can enjoy the pitch at the centre of the park and the four nets in which to practice, while the site also boasts an outdoor bowling green, a multi-use Tarmac court, as well as a 400m athletics track and a full-sized 3G artificial football pitch.
A large green space with open aspects, trees, and a playground. The open space is an informal space offering opportunity for general recreation. The site in recent years has changed its management regimes to include an increasing area set aside for wildflowers and opportunities for pollinators and invertebrates.

Mr Roberts, 48, has taught hundreds of students since he began coaching at the recreation ground in Randolph Avenue in 1989. He said the new contracts required him to pay the council 1,000 a month for use of the facilities, up from 89 a month before. "We are never going to sign up to that," he said.

Grange Park is a 20 - 40 minute bus journey (16) down the Edgware Road to Kilburn (Much longer from Oxford Street/Marble Arch). It's not the most exciting park in London but it's decent for a child. In the summer there is a large water fountain/sprinkler play area that the kids love. In addition to the childrens park, there is a tennis court, an astroturf football and basketball pitch and a big green area in the middle to play ball games. Additionally, one minute away from the Kilburn High Road exit there is a great little dessert shop call 'The Sweet Spot' that sells a wide variety of desserts that are hard to find elsewhere, as well as milkshakes and other delights.
Getting off the bus (16 or 98) a little bit earlier, at McDonalds in Kilburn, and following the road adjacent to it for 15 - 20 mins will bring you to Queens Park, which is much better than Grange Park, with a large childrens park, a small outdoor swimming pool (closed in Winter), a large sand pit and a small petting zoo, as well as a big green area in the middle to play ball games, a tennis court, some ping pong tables (bring your own bats and balls) and a fairly priced cafe selling ice cream and hot food.
Getting off of the bus much earlier in Maida Vale, about 20 mins away from Paddington, there is another park called Paddington Recreation Ground which has a decent adventure playground, a cafe, football pitches, tennis courts and a green area, but not much for kids bar the adventure playground.
Five hundred men, of almost al trades, were employed for ten weeks it building the Ground. 35,000 yards of clay, 2,800 yards of ballast, 40,000 loads of rubbish were removed, and 1,300 yards of ashes laid to form the Grounds. A well turfed cricket field, tennis courts, a splendid cinder cycling track and a handsome pavilion with a terraced roof was constructed. Owing to Mr Beachcroft's generosity, the whole of the Fund for Relieving the Unemployed was paid in wages. He was responsible for all materials (about 2,500) and maintenance costs.
What was your first experience of inclusive/disability tennis?
My first experience with disability tennis was only recently this year, when I after years of thinking about it finally had the opportunity to get on a course run by the LTA at Paddington Rec. The course was brilliant and inspired me to get much more involved with inclusive tennis and try and create some sessions at Paddington Recreation grounds.
What plans do you have for inclusive/disability tennis at Paddington Rec?
This year in June I set up, with the help and funding of the Tennis Foundation, two inclusive tennis sessions. One offered to players with Learning disabilities and the second session a DSActive session offered to players with Downs Syndrome. I am happy to announce that Paddington Recreation Grounds will be hosting our first inclusive tennis festival on September 15th 9-12pm open to all players. Thereafter we will be running two inclusive 6 week courses on a Tuesday evening 5-6pm and 6-7pm.
