\nViolence against women and girls, in particular intimate partner violence and sexual violence, is a major public health problem and a violation of women's human rights. Girls Rise Up! aims to develop the confidence, skills and knowledge of at-risk girls in Solomon Islands and to help them establish supportive peer networks and the opportunity to safely advocate for issues that affect them. By expanding from Honiara to rural provinces, the project aims to support rural adolescent girls who face safeguarding risks related to logging and mining operations. The project is led by YWCA in partnership with CARE International and supported by the Australian Government through the Pacific Girl program, managed by Pacific Women.

The camp will provide girls ages 8 to 12 with an opportunity to learn some basics of engineering. Participants will work with the staff of the CGE, as well as ChickTech, a Portland-based organization that offers hands-on workshops, mentoring and community encouragement to help young women build confidence and recognize and celebrate their potentials.

Today more than ever we need excellent girls' schools. Having just attended the Asia Pacific Summit on Girls' Education in Hobart, I remain convinced of this. In our girl only schools, we have the opportunity to transform the lives of girls and young women by challenging what they think and believe about themselves. We can focus unapologetically on championing causes for girls, with girls and alongside those who are ambitious for girls. Within our School communities, we share an unassailable mission to educate and empower girls as they enter a world that is complex and that craves their contribution.

This study was conducted for the purpose of determining whether there is a significant difference in the reading and arithmetic achievement of boys and girls in the fourth, fifth, and sixth grades in the Lodi Elementary School District. To put the purpose in question form: Is there a significant difference in the reading and arithmetic achievement of boys and girls in grades four, five, and six in the Lodi Elementary Schools? In formulating plans for the study, similar studies were examined. Literature concerning reading and arithmetic differences between boys and girls was read.
