Buying new jewelry is always exciting! Adding items to your jewelry collection opens up new wardrobe possibilities: those old blouses in the back of your closet look new again when paired with that brand-new custom necklace! There are a few things to keep in mind when finding that perfect piece, for instance, you want to make sure you find the right chain length. This guide will help you choose the right necklace length.

Tips to Find the Right Necklace Length

Compare the necklace you are purchasing to one you already own. If you have a necklace in similar style and length to the one you are considering purchasing, measure it to guide your choice.
Wrap a string around your neck. This is best done with the help of someone else. At the back/base of your neck, have your friend press the string to your skin and adjust the length in the front to suit the length you are looking for. Once you’ve adjusted it so the string falls the way you want it to, have your friend mark the spot at the back of your neck where the necklace would close. Then measure the string by laying it flat.

Caring for Your Gold Plated Jewelry

Gold plating is a process where a thin layer of gold covers the surface of another metal. To decrease the chances of wearing out, here are some easy ways of keeping the luster of your gold plated jewelry.

Always remove your jewelry before swimming, bathing/showering, playing sports or sweating.
Wait until your moisturizer, sunscreen, perfume or tanning lotion dries before putting on your jewelry.
You can clean and shine your gold plated jewelry using a soft jewelry cloth. Do this only occasionally to maintain the layer of gold plating.
If your jewelry needs more cleaning, you can clean it with warm, soapy water between your fingers and hands. Dry thoroughly with a soft towel. Stay away from jewelry cleaners and antibacterial soaps.
To avoid scratches, store your gold plated jewelry away from other jewelry.

How to Measure Your Wrist

Using a tape measure:

Wrap the tape measure around the wrist on which you plan to wear your bracelet. Make a note of the number at the point where the tape meets the 0. To ensure the bracelet fits comfortably, add 1/2" to 3/4". You can then add or subtract according to whether you prefer a loose, exact or tight fit.

String and Ruler: (See image below)

If you are unable to find a measuring tape, simply find a piece of string, a strip of paper or a piece of tape, and wrap it around your wrist at the position where you'd like to wear your bracelet. Make note of where the string/strip overlaps and lay it flat over a ruler to get the measurement.

Using an existing bracelet:

Find a bracelet that fits to your preference. Set it down flat. Measure with a ruler the length from the top of the clasp to end of the bracelet. Make a note of the measurement. Order your bracelet in a size as close as possible to this measurement.

Caring for Your Diffuser Bracelets

Though the elastic cord used in our bracelets is very strong, excessive stretching and pulling may cause the elastic to snap! Rolling your elastic bracelet onto your wrist will prevent it from breaking and gradually stretching out.

Cleaning Lava Jewelry:

When using essential oils on your lava stones, you will need to clean the stones when switching between families of oils, or from time to time to remove the staining that oils can cause.

Necklaces or bracelets with lava stones can be cleaned by holding the stone(s) under running water and rubbing the stone with your fingers or a soft cloth. Be sure to dry your jewelry after cleaning.

Any piece of jewelry such as necklaces and bracelets, that are made with porous materials that absorb essential oils. Once applied, the oils will diffuse through your personal space so you can experience aromatherapy for hours.
