I'm Jade, an early-career instruction librarian in the research services department at Radford University's McConnell Library

Note: My master's project site is live! Check it out: The Inclusive Library Instruction Project

Principle Beliefs & Values:

  • Inclusive pedagogy incorporating critical theories and frameworks as embedded, core components of both my personal teaching philosophy and the library instruction programs that I participate in

  • Cultivation of an equity-oriented mindset – embracing an intersectional, assets/strengths-based, proactive, “student-ready” approach to working with traditionally marginalized/underserved student populations (in alignment with NASPA recommendations)

  • Evidence-based, high-impact instructional practices grounded in constructivist theory and universal design for learning with a transformative, social-justice lens

  • Holistic student-centered support of learners contributes positively to overall success, retention & persistence, which must include acknowledgement and support of the relational and affective components of the learning process
