Choral Conducting and Song Leading

I have taught, directed, and conducted a variety of choirs and vocal groups. The singers with whom I have worked range from kindergarten to adult. Here are just a few highlights. Check back often for more!

Blame It on the Boogie

The Swift Select Choir performed Mac Huff's arrangement of "Blame It on the Boogie" on the UConn Choirs stage!

This Little Light of Mine

I adapted this arrangement by Patti Drennan to be suitable for children's choir and congregational singing. We offered it as a send-off to two of our friends that were were moving out of our community.

(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay

The Woodstock Academy Chorale performed this favorite tune in a gospel-infused setting by Gary Eckert. We learned about Otis Redding's life and the challenges that inspired him to write this song. These singers rocked the performance! Can you believe that all of them are in college now?! šŸ˜

Born Today! (Christmas Pageant 2016)

Our 2016 Christmas pageant was a hit! The young artists performed with enthusiasm and sang with thoughtful expression. See for yourself! Borrowing from a few different sources, I rewrote the traditional pageant script to tell the famous story from a new perspective in a lighthearted way. I continued to arrange new music specifically for the pageant.

Oye

My students in the Mansfield community considered the idea of the "voice." We investigated what it means to have a voice, discovered that some voices are louder than others, and discussed what it means to amplify marginalized voices. Part of being good singers is using our platform and our art to promote the change we wish to see in our world.

As a capstone project, students chose to combine with the Chapel Choir at St. Marks as a way of kicking off our Evensong for Social Justice.
