I don't want to downplay anybody's legitimate pain and suffering and be that guy who yells "FAKE!" I think most likely Adam Cole is legitimately hurt, almost certainly. However, too many things don't line up, or rather line up a little to well, for me to believe there is a 0% chance this is a work.

The injury happened on camera and commentators drew attention to it. Obviously this doesn't make it a work, injuries happen on camera all the time, but this is something that would have to be true for this to be a work. Grand Slam (the biggest Dynamite of the year) went off the air with Cole hobbling around the ring as MJF celebrated, leaving fans to speculate on Cole's health. If Cole didn't get injured, was the planned finish simply the happy ending? Cole shows up for MJF just in time to cheer him on to a win over Samoa Joe. It almost seems a little anti-climactic. The attack on Jay White. A group of masked assailants, including one wearing MJF's signature devil mask, beat down Jay White in the final segment of Dynamite. So who were they and who do they work for? MJF is certainly a possibility because he's MJF, but I think the intent of the segment was to make you believe someone is framing MJF. So who would do that? Who benefits most from painting MJF as the bad guy? There is one obvious answer, Roddy Strong & The Kingdom. I think they are most likely behind the attack to force Cole to believe that MJF hasn't changed and he's still the same old scumbag. Specifically, I think the guy in the devil mask was Kyle O'Reilly, giving Strong, Bennett, and Taven the alibi that it couldn't have been them carrying out these attacks because they've been in the hospital with Adam and Roderick. Meanwhile, they have KOR (and possibly Bobby Fish) doing their dirty work from the shadows.

The Wear and Tear on MJF. Max's health has been a significant part of this story. MJF mentions frequently that because of Cole he's wrestling way more than ever before, including twice at All In. It's been repeatedly mentioned, by MJF and others on the show, that Cole targeted and nearly broke MJF's neck at All In. Despite that he worked through a neck injury to defend the ROH Tag Team Championships at All Out and BBB against the vicious Samoa Joe at Grand Slam. Now MJF will be defending the ROH Tag Team Titles solo in a handicap match, and he will likely continue to do so until Cole returns or he loses the championships, racking up even more mileage on his body. He went to SoHo every month to see what was going on in the galleries. He contemplates the physical properties of shape, color, and material, and expounds on the meaning of each of these properties as social conditions, uses, and origins. From there he looks at each through historical, spiritual, and natural perspectives. Ultimately, he compares it to an algebra equation to help locate new balances within his work.

In recent times the artist has been earning more prominent commissions. In 2016 he was contacted by the New Jersey Clean Communities Council to make a large outdoor sculpture for Kids Day that was sponsored by Coca-Cola. He made a large bird from 5,000 16oz plastic water bottles collected by public-school children in Atlantic City, NJ and recycled into a one-of-a-kind work of art. He was also recently contacted by Comme de Garcons after they discovered his online. Cole explained that this new collaboration felt great, and that he was taken to a mental place when he was in high school studying fashion design. Career wise, this was an exceptionally good collaboration for him as his social media numbers soared, and he began to be contacted daily with request to do photoshoots at his studio. He was making headpieces and hats for their stores all over the world and is only halfway through the commission, so this collaboration continues to inspire him daily.

In addition to sculpture and fashion, music is another major influence on the artist. He studied flute, can play piano by ear, and still plays guitar every day. After seeing his young son play with a Transformers toy, he was quickly taken by the idea of a sculpture that could change forms based on where the viewer was in perspective to the sculpture. Currently this sequence of events brought Cole to create a bird made from saxophones that will eventually hang in the Kansas City International Airport. Yamaha guitars also reached out to him this year to become the first artist to participate in their recycling program to raise money for music education. From multiple acoustic guitars he is creating musical clock-like works and native headdresses.
