Even as one of the most successful and richest rappers out, J. Cole remains a man of the people. Who else among his peers would pull a charitable stunt like not only rapping over a YouTube producer's beat for a loosie release, but allowing the song to live on their channel even?

The business of "type beats," essentially making tracks that sound like the type of thing a big name rapper would use and selling them to aspiring artists, is a huge market and often the move that leads producer into the industry to create more original work. It is rare, however, for a producer to attract the attention of the rapper whose sound he is seeking to imitate. Step forward J. Cole who has gifted producer Bvtman a major boost and jumped on one of his J. Cole-type beats.

"He's like, "Yo, you inspired J. Cole one day. He was going through type beats, and your beat was the beat he found and he's got a verse to it," Archer explained. "He wants you to put it out because you inspired him when he was going through a block, and changes of inspiration."

Cole, a seasoned and well-respected producer in his own right, goes on to say he came across the instrumental after randomly searching "J. Cole type beat" on YouTube: "Yours was the first I saw. I pressed play, focused, and wrote this."

"Every line in there always sticks out to me because it was a letter to somebody that needs to hear something like that," Archer said, adding, "What he did was a genuine and a human thing to do. He's a producer himself, so he understands the process, understands the emotions, the creating process, and the feeling you get when you make a good beat."

The YouTube video for the track shows a screenshot of messages sent to the producer from J. Cole. Apparently, the Dreamville rapper was recently in a musical slump when he came across the instrumental titled "J. Cole Type Beat" on YouTube. He got so inspired that he rapped over the beat and let bvtman put it out on his YT channel.

It can be an incredible moment when those who inspire others, become inspired by someone they inspired. This tongue-twisting conundrum happens every so often in the rap game, and one way it does is through type beats.

It seems that when a rapper is struggling to find a beat that connects with them, they look to those who have studied them and emulated their past work. The most recent superstar emcee who indulged in this practice was J. Cole, and the producer he stumbled upon just so happened to be one of the GOATs in the type beat community.

A text message, presumably from Cole, says that the North Carolina native was struggling to find inspiration before he went to YouTube and searched "J. Cole type beat." Being directed to Bvtman's channel, the rapper heard the "Procrastination" beat, got out of his creative rut and began writing. Last year, Cole assisted on singles from BIA ("London"), Smino ("90 Proof"), YG and Moneybagg Yo ("Scared Money"), and Benny The Butcher ("Johnny P's Caddy"). "Procrastination" also comes over a year after Cole's last solo album, The Off-Season, which went on to be nominated for Best Rap Album at the 64th Grammy Awards. e24fc04721
