I started my career as a radio lover when I was 11, in 1970.
My first radio receiver was a GBC Brian FM/5 (Gian Bruto Castelfranchi, Milan)
a great tube receiver that I used to listen to medium and short wave broadcast stations from all over the world.
There was also the FM range and, thanks to the fact that at the time there were still few FM radio stations in Italy, I was also able to receive FM radio stations from neighboring countries such as Switzerland (Radio Monte Ceneri), Principality of Monaco (Radio Montecarlo) and Yugoslavia (Radio Capo D'Istria).
But my preferred broadcasting was Alto Gradimento from RAI2. Without knowing it I had become a BCL!
In 1970 I became CB with a fabulous 5Tower (5T-202) mono channel and super reaction receiver!!
In 1981 I obtained the radio amateur license and joined the Italian Amateur Radio Association ARI in 1983.
It was a “type B” license, only for VHF frequencies and above. Since 2005, the B license has been equated to the A license (to also operate on HF).
From 2014 I started operating on the HF frequencies with a newfound enormous pleasure.
But now my working conditions are:
HF transceiver: YAESU FTdx101D power 100W on all HF bands except 15W on 60m band.
V/UHF transceiver: YAESU 991 power 50W on VHF and UHF.
Antenna tuner: SGC MAC-200.
HF antennas: Rybakov (fishing rod Spiderbeam HD) homemade 14 meters high multi band vertical HF antenna
My 2023 station layout: Yaesu FTdx101D & FT-991 transcreiver, SGC MAC-200 atu, Yaesu VR-5000 receiver, FL-2100Z & FC-902 with a "sliding" Teclast F5 touch screen PC and M-100 microphone.
My 2021 station layout (Yaesu FT-991 transcreiver, SGC MAC-200 atu, JRC NRD-535D receiver, Yaesu VR-5000 receiver)
My 2019 station layout (Yaesu FT-897D transcreiver, MFJ-993B atu, Icom IC-R71 & IC-R7000 receiver, Yaesu VR-5000 receiver)
