In my 3rd year of university, I had a module called '20th Century Music and The Sound of Hollywood'. During this, I had to orchestrate a ~4 minute scene from a selection of films using Opus Hollywood instruments.Â
I chose the scene from Skull Island, where Kong fights Skullcrawler. I chose this one because the focus of the scene is constantly changing, as well as the pace too. I wanted to challenge myself to compose a piece of music that was dynamic enough to fit these constant changes, without being too disjointed or aimless. It also gave me the opportunity to experiment with frequent time signature changes to match the action on screen.
This was an incredibly valuable project in terms of developing my film score composition abilities. I usually do not work on film scores, so this was a very fun challenge for me!
