In my 2nd year of university, I had a module called 'Music For Games and Interactive Media'. During this, we were given the game files for a dungeon-based game, and were introduced to using Wwise, a software used for implementing music into video games.
We had to compose 6 tracks (2 of which being adaptive) and implement them into the Wwise project, as well as adjust all of the transitions.
On the left you can watch a screen recorded demonstration of how some of the tracks transition into each other.
The tracks I wrote were:
Exploration and Combat - these two tracks were written to be adaptive, meaning that they can be played at the same time and will switch between each other seamlessly, depending on the action happening in-game.
Story - this track plays when the line of text appears at the top of the screen.
Boss Track - this plays in the final room of the level, where you fight the boss enemy.
Victory - this plays when you complete the level, it has a main fanfare melody and then goes into a looping section which will repeat until the player moves onto the next level.
Defeat - this plays when the player dies, this also has a short main theme, which then goes into a looping section until the player leaves the death screen.
