Natasha Gupta of Blue Feather Designs
Blue Feather Designs was set up in 2016 by Natasha who believed great interior design should do more than look pretty. It should tell a story, make people feel something and, importantly, work really hard for the business behind it. She loves getting under the skin of a brand — understanding its personality, its customers and what makes it tick — and then turning all of that into a space that feels authentic, memorable and a little bit unexpected.
Colour, texture, pattern and personality are all part of Natasha’s design toolkit, but there is always a practical head underneath the creative one. A restaurant has to work for the team as well as the customer. A workplace needs to support the people using it. A retail space needs to sell. For Natasha, the magic happens when the commercial requirements and the creative ideas come together seamlessly.
Sustainability is also a big part of her approach. Natasha is passionate about challenging the idea that beautiful interiors have to rely on materials that come at a cost to animals or the planet. She is particularly interested in vegan design and in finding creative alternatives to traditional animal-derived materials — without compromising on the things that make an interior exciting: colour, tactility, quality and a bit of wow.
She believes vegan design should be about possibility rather than restriction. It’s about asking different questions, discovering clever materials and suppliers, and proving that a more compassionate approach can result in spaces that are every bit as beautiful, luxurious and commercially successful.
Collaboration is central to Natasha’s way of working too. She enjoys bringing clients, makers, suppliers and contractors into the process and believes the best projects come from good relationships, open conversations and a willingness to try something different.
A BIID Registered Interior Designer and Sustainability Commitee member, Natasha has built Blue Feather Designs around a simple ambition: to create happy spaces for happy faces — spaces that look fantastic, work brilliantly and, wherever possible, do a little more good along the way.
The International Vegan Interior Design Association has members from every continent, Natasha is one of the founding members from the UK.
