Risha Walden of Walden Interiors

As the founder and principal designer of Walden Interiors, Risha has spent more than 15 years creating interiors that are sophisticated, unexpected and deeply personal. Based in Millburn, New Jersey, she brings a distinctly individual point of view to her residential and commercial projects—one where glamour is welcome, personality is essential, and playing it safe is rarely part of the plan.

Risha is drawn to spaces that make you feel something. A spectacular light fixture. An unexpected color. A wall that becomes a piece of art. A fabulous fabric you can't resist touching. She loves layering materials, pattern, texture and architectural details to create rooms that unfold rather than reveal themselves all at once.

And she firmly believes that luxury should never mean sameness.

A longtime vegan, Risha has also made cruelty-free design an integral part of her work. Through Walden Interiors, she demonstrates that interiors can be sumptuous, tactile and glamorous without relying on leather, wool, silk, down or animal hides. For her, conscious design isn't about giving something up—it's an invitation to be more creative.

That philosophy made her participation in the International Vegan Interior Design Association's Virtual Showhome a natural fit. Joining an international group of designers from the United States, United Kingdom, Europe and Australia, Risha brings her own interpretation of modern vegan luxury to the project: bold, sophisticated, layered and perhaps just a touch theatrical.

Because while Risha takes design very seriously, she doesn't believe our homes should take themselves too seriously.

Her goal is always the same: create a space that could belong to no one else—beautifully considered, unapologetically personal, cruelty-free and with just enough glamour to make coming home feel like an entrance.
