Identificar un túnel en un mapa es bien sencillo, generalmente se trata de una línea recta que atraviesa una montaña.
Como si de un túnel se tratara, mi línea se propone atravesar una cordillera en línea recta... pero en lugar de perforando su vientre, será un recorrido a cielo abierto por sus pliegues y lugares más remotos. Y como si de un túnel se tratara, mi línea tendrá dos "bocas": el Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial y el Palacio de La Granja de San Ildefonso.
No seré la primera ni la última persona en utilizar la Sierra de Guadarrama como lugar de paso, ya que así ha sido desde tiempos inmemoriales... pero probablemente hacerlo bajo la premisa de "The line" me permitirá llegar a sus rincones más ignotos, remotos y salvajes, a salvo de la presión antrópica que Madrid y sus habitantes ejercen sobre ella.
Así, mi túnel, mi línea, será un viaje a través del tiempo y del espacio, de los recuerdos escondidos entre pinos, robles, paredes de granito, arroyos y la escurridiza fauna salvaje que habita en esta joya del Sistema Central.

You can easily finger a tunnel on a map; it's pretty simple, usually is just a straight line that goes through a mountain. My line intends to do the same thing, running through a mountain range called Sierra de Guadarrama, but with a slight difference. It won't drill; it will flow outdoor, freely under the sky, adjusting to its most remote folds and places. And as if it were an actual tunnel, my line will have two entrances: the monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial and the royal palace of La Granja de San Idelfonso. Two historical landmarks of Spanish past times.
I won't be the first or the last person traveling through the Sierra de Guadarrama. This mountain range has been crossing paths from the old ages, back in the Roman Empire. But I'll certainly be the first one crossing it under "The Line" guidelines: an unusual way to get to its wildest and unknown parts. It will be a different journey through a territory where nature still wins. Sierra de Guadarrama is a national park that proudly resists the immense human pressure of a close big city like Madrid with more than 6 million inhabitants.
So my tunnel, my line, will be a travel in time and place, through memories hidden in the pine trees, the holm oaks, the granite walls, the fountains, and the silent animals that live in this fantastic hidden gem in central Spain.
