June 2025-Present
My friend/mentor Kami Huynh, the first runner-up for Miss Nebraska, coached me and invited me to model for the Karen New Year event. I trained with her group for three weeks to perfect my pageant-style walk. On January 26 at Lincoln High School, I had the opportunity to showcase two stunning outfits: a traditional Karen pink set and a silver-blue sparkly gown, representing her brand, Freya Academie.

We walked to showcase traditional Karen wear in celebration of the Karen New Year, as we were the entertainment of the event. There were two main walks. The first was the traditional Karen wear, where we crossed paths with our partners, doing a fun move and pose. Then, we transitioned into our Met Gala gowns. The change between the two outfits was stressful, as I only had two minutes to switch, but we made it work. I even created my own routine to make the transition smooth. Afterward, we closed the show with a graceful wave goodbye to the audience as we left the stage. The audience was huge, with around 400 people in attendance. I had been training at the Star Dance Academy, focusing on pageant poses with poise and elegance. On the big day, I was nervous because my family and friends were there. The stage was large, and the bright lights made everything feel even more intense, but it was an unforgettable experience.
My best friend Lydia, a fashion stylist and designer, collaborated with another stylist, Leah, to feature me in their collection for the Culxr House Summer Fashion Show 2024. It was my first time modeling in front of an audience, showcasing a "Timeless at Ocean" look. I wore a crochet long-sleeve top adorned with shells, gold jewelry, a brown corset, and a beige ruffle long skirt, complemented by a glowy bronzed makeup look. Using an hourglass prop, we stitched and posed as we passed by each model, creating a seamless, artistic performance on July 6th.

My experience participating in the fashion show was nerve-wracking, but the training over the past three weeks was both intense and enjoyable. Although it was hot and challenging at times, I had a great time throughout the process. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills, and improve my walk, posture, and confidence. Getting my makeup done professionally, putting on the dresses, and waiting behind the curtains. It was amazing to see myself transformed and ready for the runway. When the big day arrived, I performed in front of an audience of about 200 people. Thank you for my best friend Lydia Okuku for inviting me.
