Today's world thrives on information in the electronic form as today's era is instant information at the click of a mouse,at a touch of the screen.

Most transactions in today's world have gone digital. In view of the rapid strides made in the field of information technology the students of IT are taught programming languages like C, C++, Java. They are exposed to application software's like Visual Basic and are introduced to the .Net technology. They learn web page designing too. They show case their knowledge by taking up small live projects for the industry in their final year.

The Department of Information Technology is established in year 2007 with intake of 60. Present intake is 180. The department has got a young dedicated staff who are always striving for excellence. The department looks after the networking in the campus and helps in trouble-shooting and maintenance of computer system of the college.

The current intake of the department is 180 seats.

Government polytechnic Rajkot was established in the month of June 1964 by the government of Gujarat with an initial intake of 60 students in the civil engineering Diploma Course. This Polytechnic initially located at Rajkot. The new and fully equipped building for the Polytechnic was constructed later in the Year 1966, on a hillock near Aji Dam, a green lush surrounding ideal for the academics. This place is about 6Km. away from the Railway station.

Rajkot is a well-known industrial city of Gujarat state. Rajkot is famous for its diesel Engine industries in all over the India. It is situated on Bombay-Okha broad gauge line of western Railway and 8B national highway. Leading industries of the city are Field Marshal, K.Rasiklal & Co., Echjay Steel, Forge & Forge Pvt. Ltd. and developing industrial zone of Lodhika, Metoda and Shaper which are recognized for backward industrial area by Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation which gives high potentiality of Industrial growth.
