ITE WebQuest March 2020

An ITE webquest on “Communicable Diseases” for students of class VII to X was organized by ITE resource team, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai in collaboration with ITE teachers from Kolkata, Assam and Madrasah, West Bengal. It was a three-day webinar (6 hours) from 27th to 30th March and included synchronous activities for students participating from the three states.

Around 65 students participated in the WebQuest, where each student had to select one communicable disease and research about it based on the given guidelines and make proper notes. They also made their own quiz which was based on the questions designed by them after their research work.

During the Live Session with Experts, the students had the opportunity to discuss or share their doubts/questions that arose in their mind or they came across while doing the research work on the disease that they selected. The experts who joined for the WebQuest were:

  • Jayeeta Chowdhury - She is the Program Director of India Health Fund, an initiative of the Tata Trusts. She has worked for two decades in the rural development sector, health system strengthening, and philanthropy. Her expertise includes program designing, operations development, strategic planning, program evaluation, policy, and advocacy. She has worked extensively across northern, central, eastern, and northeastern states in India and South Asia on the issues of communicable diseases, malnutrition, palliative care, reproductive health, and gender.

  • Dr. Mitaj Halsana - MBBS, FACMl. He is a practicing emergency physician with an expertise in acute care medicine.

On the Final day, the participants played a synchronous quiz which was very exciting for everyone and it was followed by a feedback session by students, teachers, and all other participants.
