ISU Graduate Workers Union

About the Union

In 2018, graduate students at ISU with Teaching Assistantships won a “seat at the table.” Teaching Assistants (TAs) voted to form a union and won legal recognition. We are a group of TAs like you who come together with coworkers to collectively advocate for and negotiate with employers on behalf of the entire group. Legally, this means ISU has to negotiate with us over TA pay, fees, and working conditions. What we get in the end depends upon participation! Join us as our union bargains its second contract!

Note to Research and Graduate Assistants

When the GWU was first formed, it was only legal for teaching assistants to unionize, meaning RAs and GAs got left out of our initial unionization. Since then, the law has changed and we are working to organize RAs and GAs as well. If you are interested in unionizing, please reach out or attend a meeting!
