Race 8 - 2019

iStock Racing Series

In the media this week...

  • Kiki Roseburg has a hot week in hot laps; that's second place for Kiki which is a career high by our estimation. Couple that with a boost, and he could have a great day ahead.
  • Emil Ziskie has positive fan interaction during race week, and solid times, giving him 3rd overall. Another personal best late in the season!
  • Nathan Dunkleman has an ugly confrontation with a taunting fan which gets on TV. It seems to spur him on, though, giving him 8th.
  • Kieran Easter does a phone-in interview on a national sports radio show; he'll start 18th.
  • Daniel Burman suffers bad suspension problems during qualifying; he'll start in 40th which really ruins his chances of winning three back-to-back.
  • Aaron Slipper has what can only be described as a career-defining qualifying week, thanks to adjustment to equipment. He'll start on pole, with TWO boosts available.
  • Ben Stover has tire problems during qualifying, leaving him 41st.

RACE 8 - 2019 - 30 turns

LANGHORNE 300

LANGHORNE, PA

Remember that each turn is 10 miles, and is represented by the skill being checked and the group of drivers being checked. With regards to groups, 1st - 7th is TOP, 8th - 19th is MIDDLE and 20th and below is BOTTOM.

TURN 1 - PROBLEM - BOTTOM - Varalia Spiders has an issue with her oil pressure. She repairs and I suppose it's not disastrous at this point, but a drop from 20th to 43rd is still tough.

TURN 2 - RARE - MIDDLE - SURGE - Travis Elford is fired up! He heads all the way up to 4th from 8th!

TURN 3 - TROUBLE - TOP - Valkyr and Urist have a major coming-together, involving Urist spinning some six times as he goes. The yellows are out.

TURN 4 - YELLOW FLAG - No movement from either crashed car adds a bit of tension for the fans!

TURN 5 - YELLOW FLAG - Okay, both cars are indeed running again - we still have a field of 43. For now.

TURN 6 - CONTROL - BOTTOM - Rain Winterson (40) overtakes Franceso Rivera and moves to #12. Daniel Burman (38) overtakes A.I. Kraken and moves to #10. Elias Prichard (34) overtakes Hunky Davis and moves to #16. Kerry Mackinaw (29) overtakes Franceso Rivera and moves to #14. Garrad McKinley (28) overtakes Dominic Jackson and moves to #8. Leapfrog Jones (28) overtakes Rain Winterson and moves to #14. Oliver Otter (27) overtakes Kerry Mackinaw and moves to #16.

TURN 7 - PIT TURN - Kiki Roseburg, Nathan Dunkleman, Travis Elford, L.A. Brick and Emil Ziskie all gain a boost from great pitting. Kiki Roseburg attempts to muscle past Aaron Slipper, the leader, but Slipper boosts just to keep Kiki back.

TURN 8 - REFLEX - TOP - Aaron Slipper uses their performance boost to defend against Emil Ziskie, but this exposes him to L.A Brick who takes the lead. He's wise to a quick attempt from Travis Elford to gain the lead, and boosts to keep Travis back.

TURN 9 - TROUBLE - TOP - Brick and Slipper collect each other and they're off into the grass!

TURN 10 - YELLOW FLAG - No drama this time: after routine checks, both Brick and Aaron are racing again extremely quickly - just at the back.

TURN 11 - YELLOW FLAG

TURN 12 - STAR - TOP - Emil Ziskie uses their performance boost to attack! Emil Ziskie (4) overtakes Kiki Roseburg and moves to #1. However, he's exposed immediately by Travis Elford, who takes the lead for himself and settles in in first.

TURN 13 - PROBLEM - MIDDLE - Kerry Mackinaw has a major cooling problem. She repairs, but drops from 15th to 43rd.

TURN 14 - TROUBLE - BOTTOM - What happens when the person running in 20th hits the wall and rebounds right into the pack? Carnage, that's what. We have an 18 car pile up on our hands here - that's an iStock record!

TURN 15 - YELLOW FLAG - Absolute chaos reigns in the pits as the crews try to work out what they can salvage. Creek, Walker, Von Passum all get going again. Solo and Fujiwara also get running. Fireplug splutters as does Caulfield, but they're both racing too.

TURN 16 - YELLOW FLAG - Conor Westfall is running again, as is Varalia, Brick, Aaron Slipepr and Kerry Mackinaw, but that's it. The rest are done.

TURN 17 - PIT TURN - the pit crews are ready and some superb work gets some boosts up available for Daniel Burman, AI Kraken, Egil Van Can, Rain Winterson, Yokum Schmidt and Dominic Jackson. Dunkleman, having waited patiently, gets the timing just perfect as he comes off the line, winning the race on pit road and taking the lead from Travis Elford!

TURN 18 - DUEL - Tamauria Spiders attempts to duel Travis Elford, winning it and taking 2nd. Elford escapes any negative consequences, thankfully.

TURN 19 - HEAT - MIDDLE - Dominic Jackson uses their performance boost to attack, taking 4th from Emil Ziskie. Egil Van Can moves up to 3rd, and Kraken uses his boost to take Jackson. Finally, Daniel Burman adds more misery to Emil Ziskie, pushing him back to 8th as he takes 7th.

TURN 20 - TROUBLE - TOP - More catastrophe but at the front this time. Kraken gets his line wrong, or his spotter does, and he simply collides with Elford next to him.

TURN 21 - YELLOW FLAG - Dunkleman is running again, but the others aren't so lucky. All three of Elford, Kraken and Jackson are out.

TURN 22 - YELLOW FLAG

TURN 23 - SKILL - BOTTOM - Nathan Dunkleman (34) overtakes Flash Finley and moves to #10. L.A. Brick (32) overtakes Elias Prichard and moves to #14. Conor Westfall (31) overtakes Leapfrog Jones and moves to #12. Rain Winterson uses their performance boost to defend against Fireplug Fitzpatrick! Max Von Passum (27) overtakes Conor Westfall and moves to #12. Ben Stover (24) overtakes Max Von Passum and moves to #12.

TURN 24 - DUEL - Max Von Passum attempts to duel Rain Winterson, but gets it wrong and loses a chunk of his tire in the process as he has to lock up. He rejoins the race but an unscheduled pitstop shoves him to the back. Ben Stover, undeterred, also tries to knock off Rain, but escapes consequences when he fails.

TURN 25 - CONTROL - TOP - no movement, with Roseburg, Shelton, Rivera, Ziskie and Burman all failing.

TURN 26 - TROUBLE - TOP - not again! Tamauria hits some debris that hasn't been cleared from the track, cutting her tire, and this pulls her left into Shelton and Roseburg! Egil Van Can takes the lead!

TURN 27 - PIT TURN - It quickly becomes clear that all three of the crash victims from turn 26 are done for the day and are out, despite the best efforts from their mechanics. A huge amount of fast pits gain boosts for many: Conor Westfall, Leapfrog Jones, Hunky Davis, Jay Wolff, Aaliyah Stover, Boothby Grafoe, Daniel Burman, Yokum Schmidt and Rain Winterson all benefit. Dunkleman attempts to seize the lead from Van Can, but can't get it done and Catch 22 continues in front.

TURN 28 - YELLOW FLAG

TURN 29 - TV - MIDDLE - Daniel Burman uses their performance boost to defend against Ben Stover!

TURN 30 - HEAT - TOP - Burman has a chance to take the win, and is the only one who could, but side-draft from Yokum Schmidt wobbles his line, and he can't get past Van Can! That's Egil's second race win of the year!
