Race 7 - 2019

iStock Racing Series

In the media this week...

  • Franceso Rivera has an almighty scrap with Kiki Roseburg, when Roseburg slices across his pit box and almost takes out one of his pit crew. Both men are eventually separated, but here's the juicy bit: Franceso will start 6th, Kiki 5th. Fireworks to come?
  • Rain Winterson has a good week and gets her fans behind her on social media through some clever self-promotion. She'll start 4th.
  • Elias Prichard takes part in a highly corporate sponsor appearance and looks mildly uncomfortable throughout. He'll start in 14th.
  • Dominic Jackson gets sanctioned when one of his tires gets loose and bounces clear across the infield, then over the pit wall. It's 39th for him.
  • Urist Tannhauser also has a poor week. Two of his crew are heard in the background of the radio screaming obscenities at each other, and their body language communicates this frustration too. He'll begin in 38th, obviously massively put off.
  • Yokum Schmidt gets into it with a taunting fan who was hurling all sorts of ethno-centric abuse at him. Whether he was right or wrong to defend himself, it gets onto local and regional TV, and it's a definite talking point. He'll begin in 12th.

RACE 7 - 2019 - 20 turns

BANAMEX 200

MEXICO CITY, MEXICO

Remember that each turn is 10 miles, and is represented by the skill being checked and the group of drivers being checked. With regards to groups, 1st - 7th is TOP, 8th - 19th is MIDDLE and 20th and below is BOTTOM.

TURN 1 - DUEL - A quiet start - Hunky Davis and Elias Prichard decide against moving up.

TURN 2 - SKILL - BOTTOM - Quite a few movements from the bottom group up into the top 20. Conor Westfall (43) overtakes L.A. Brick and moves to #18. Dominic Jackson (40) overtakes Elias Prichard and moves to #14. Corey Creek (38) overtakes Dominic Jackson and moves to #14. Mason Shelton (34) overtakes Emil Ziskie and moves to #10. Egil Van Can (26) overtakes Hunky Davis and moves to #18. Finally, Kieran Easter (25) overtakes Flash Finley and moves to #8.

TURN 3 - STAR - MIDDLE - Rain Winterson is a bit of a victim here, first getting overtaken by Corey Creek for 4th, then Tim Walker for 5th place. Tamauria Spiders uses their performance boost to defend against Garrad McKinley.

TURN 4 - SKILL - TOP - We have a lead change! Kiki Roseburg overtakes Oliver Otter and grabs first place! He then fends off challenges from Tim Walker and Corey Creek using his brake skill.

TURN 5 - RARE - BOTTOM - As the crews start to get themselves into place for 20 miles from now, Paul Puffin and Travis Elford's crews get into a verbal fight, and we'll add those drivers to the feud list in case anything happens.

TURN 6 - HEAT - TOP - Tim Walker gets it done, taking the lead from Kiki Roseburg, then defends it against Corey Creek, Daniel Burman and Oliver Otter.

TURN 7 - PIT TURN - Only Kiki Roseburg gets a boost from a fast pit. However, Daniel Burman is full of momentum, and wins the battle off pit lane, taking the lead!

TURN 8 - DUEL - FEUD - Rivera goes after Roseburg! Roseburg is in third, Rivera 8th. Rivera thuds right into the side of Roseburg, who gets sideways and loses a huge chunk of time, hitting 20th by the time he arrests his slide. Rivera will be delighted and presumably satisfied after this, but Roseburg is absolutely furious.

TURN 9 - STAR - BOTTOM - Lots of movement from the back as they shuffle forwards to prepare for an attack at the top. Urist Tannhauser (40) overtakes Mason Shelton and moves to #12. TURN 11 - HEAT - MIDDLE - Urist Tannhauser (18) overtakes Franceso Rivera and moves to #7, then Travis Elford takes second from Tim Walker! It doesn't last long - Dominic Jackson takes second about half a mile later. Walker and Elford fight off attacks from Prichard and Airen respectively.

TURN 12 - SKILL - MIDDLE - Nathan Dunkleman (19) overtakes Corey Creek and moves to #7. Abnabar can't get past Tim Walker's braking, and neither can Garrad take Tamauria. Paul Puffin overtakes Nathan Dunkleman and moves to 7th, then Franceso Rivera finally gets past Walker and seizes 4th.

TURN 13 - STAR - MIDDLE - Prichard Elias (15) overtakes Dominic Jackson and moves to #2, Varalia Spiders (15) overtakes Oliver Otter and moves to #7 and Airen Slipper (15) overtakes Franceso Rivera and moves to #5. Rain Winterson and Corey Creek also head up into the top group, taking 4th and 5th respectively.

TURN 14 - SMART - TOP - A lead change and it's a familiar name from last season! AIREN SLIPPER TAKES THE LEAD!

TURN 15 - SMART - BOTTOM - Jay Wolff (31) overtakes Yokum Schmidt and moves to #16. (Roll: 4 Target: 1)

TURN 16 - TROUBLE - MIDDLE - A five car smash - Franceso Rivera, Tim Walker, Nathan Dunkleman, Cucumbers Caulfield and Garrad McKinley all get caught up in an unfortunate shunt caused by Franceso. The yellows are out to clear debris and we're going to have a yellow period too.

TURN 17 - PIT TURN - Boosts for Daniel Burman, Corey Creek and Travis Elford set them up well for a big finish. It's Rain Winterson of all people who takes the lead from Airen Slipper on the way out of the pits, though! RAIN WINTERSON LEADS!

TURN 18 - YELLOW FLAG - Of the crashed cards, only Garrad can't rejoin the race, although of course the others are now firmly sat at the back and a little way adrift.

TURN 19 - HEAT - BOTTOM - A last chance for a shuffle, potentially. Tim Walker (40) overtakes Tamauria Spiders and moves to #16. Aaron Slipper (36) overtakes Urist Tannhauser and moves to #12. L.A. Brick (30) overtakes Mason Shelton and moves to #10. Conor Westfall (30) overtakes Urist Tannhauser and moves to #14, and finally Egil Van Can (28) overtakes Emil Ziskie and moves to #12.

TURN 20 - HEAT - TOP - A top roll on lap 20 - this could be big. Firstly, Prichard Elias takes the lead from Rain Winterson. Travis Elford uses his starred quality and a performance boost to steal the lead for himself shortly after. Not to be outdone, Corey Creek does exactly the same, leading for a mile and a half. However, the show-stealer is Daniel Burman, winner of last week's race. He powers through and we're four wide over the finish line - Daniel Burman snatching the win from Corey Creek right on the line! What a finish!
