Race 1 - 2019

iStock Racing Series

In the media this week...

  • Prichard expresses big disastifaction with his car over social media. Clearly unhappy, he'll start in 37th.
  • Jay Wolff takes part in his first Yee Valley Fan Rally, and it seems to go down very well for the famous introvert. He'll start on pole position, with a boost ready to go too!
  • Corey Creek has a great time of it this week, getting a performance boost for his times which were a finger-width off pole position.
  • Max Von Passum has engine trouble throughout the entirety of the race week, and will start in 36th.
  • Another fantastic week for the independent driver, Boothby Grafoe, who looks set to have a great season if he can keep this up. It's a performance boost and third on the grid for Boothby.

RACE 1 - 2019 - 20 turns

Bucyrus 200

Road America, WI

Remember that each turn is 10 miles, and is represented by the skill being checked and the group of drivers being checked. With regards to groups, 1st - 7th is TOP, 8th - 19th is MIDDLE and 20th and below is BOTTOM.

TURN 1 - REFLEX - MIDDLE - Lots of options for people to move up - Cucumbers Caulfield, Aaron Slipper, Conor Westfall, Urist Tannhauser, Kieran Easter, Vasili Mikhailov and Juan Solo all failing to do anything of worth in this stint.

TURN 2 - SMART - MIDDLE - Dominic Jackson (19) overtakes Boothby Grafoe and moves to #3. Cucumbers Caulfield fails to overtake Dominic Jackson. Urist Tannhauser (13) overtakes Boothby Grafoe and moves to #4.

TURN 3 - PROBLEM - TOP - It's Corey Creek with an issue! He smacks right into the wall and complains of some internal damage, but his engineer's suggestion to use the performance boost - albeit early - seems to clear up the warning lights and he can continue in second.

TURN 4 - CONTROL - MIDDLE - Ben Stover fails to overtake Urist Tannhauser and Nathan Dunkleman fails to move up as well. A.I. Kraken (15) overtakes Franceso Rivera and moves to #6. Conor Westfall (15) overtakes A.I. Kraken and moves to #6. Vasili Mikhailov (14) overtakes Corey Creek and moves to #2. Finally, Airen Slipper (12) overtakes Dominic Jackson and moves to #4.

TURN 5 - SMART - TOP - Jay Wolff is forced to use their performance boost to defend against Urist Tannhauser! He then uses his skills to fend off both Dominic Jackson and Airen Slipper - formidable opponents all.

TURN 6 - TV - MIDDLE - No-one qualifies!

TURN 7 - PIT TURN - Conor Westfall, A.I. Kraken, Ben Stover, Juan Solo, Aaron Slipper, Nathan Dunkleman and Franceso Rivera gain a boost from fast pit. The race off pit lane is won by Corey Creek, who takes the lead from Jay Wolff! COREY CREEK LEADS!

TURN 8 - RARE - TOP - SURGE - Jay Wolff is obviously in top form and he's not sitting lightly on Creek passing him out of the pits. He thumps him as he goes past and retakes the lead. JAY WOLFF LEADS!

TURN 9 - TV - TOP - Corey Creek is on it! He gets past Wolff again! COREY CREEK LEADS!

TURN 10 - TV - MIDDLE - No-one qualifies!

TURN 11 - SMART - TOP - No movement this time, with Corey Creek fighting off Urist, Dominic Jackson, Airen Slipper and Jay Wolff - superb driving to keep them back.

TURN 12 - DUEL - Dominic Jackson has his blood up and is challenging Jay Wolff rather than the leader Creek. He wins it and gets past Wolff, who settles back in with no trouble.

TURN 13 - CONTROL - TOP - Airen Slipper (6) overtakes Corey Creek and seizes the lead, but is then passed in turn by Boothby Grafoe who was sitting pretty back in fifth! The use of Grafoe's performance boost is what seems to have sealed the deal this time. BOOTHBY GRAFOE LEADS!

TURN 14 - TV - BOTTOM - Prichard (25) overtakes Kieran Easter and moves to #18.

TURN 15 - SMART - BOTTOM - Ben Stover uses their performance boost to defend against Yokum Schmidt, and Franceso Rivera does the same against Tim Walker. Conor Westfall also uses their performance boost to defend against Varalia Spiders.

TURN 16 - PROBLEM - MIDDLE - Aaron Slipper reports that his engine is running very hot and he's finding it almost impossible to keep going. He pulls into the pit to attempt a repair. His crew get him back on the road but he's at the back now from 12th - a big disappointment on his Main Series debut.

TURN 17 - PIT TURN - Conor Westfall, A.I. Kraken, Cucumbers Caulfield, Egil Van Can, Nathan Dunkleman, Ben Stover and Oliver Otter get performance boosts from the great work of their pit crews this time around. Dominic Jackson gets a great pit as well, but no boost - but he won't care as he wins the race off pit road and takes the lead from Boothby Grafoe! DOMINIC JACKSON LEADS!

TURN 18 - TROUBLE - MIDDLE - There was potential for this to be awful, but the performance boosts within the group meant that three drivers were able to avoid potential injury and damage. In the end, it's only Prichard that bites the dust, but at least he gets out of the car on the infield and can wave to the crowd that he's okay.

TURN 19 - YELLOW FLAG - There's a lot of anxious energy in the stadium ahead of what will be a fascinating sprint finish.

TURN 20- STAR - TOP - That's precisely the group we wanted to see come up here. Urist Tannhauser gets outbraked by leader Jackson, as does Jay Wolff. However, Dominic is clearly getting fatigued and Corey Creek gets past him, taking the lead at mile 195. However, on mile 198, it's champion Airen Slipper who is there to take advantage of a last minute wobble from Creek, and he steals the lead. It's a sprint to the finish and a late challenge with half a lap left from Boothby doesn't come off - meaning Airen Slipper starts the season off exactly as he wants!
