Race 5 - 2019

Developmental Series

In the media this week...

  • Angelina Muir had a controversial end to her qualifying period, being docked 20 places for supposedly running an illegally pre-worn set of tires. Whether mechanic mistake or just fabrication, she'll start in 27th.
  • Lem Tables takes part in a TV interview, congratulating his crew on a good car this week which he feels very positive about. He'll get going from 20th place, a great result for him.
  • Ragnar Slipper is on it again, winning last week's race and now taking pole position with quite a gap ahead of second place. He'll also have a boost available, which makes him a formidable opponent up front.
  • Xander Louis has a dreadful wreck during qualifying. He manages to walk away and will still race, but he's plopped right at the back as a result.
  • Avianna Muir witnesses a fist-fight break out between her crew and Angelina's, as they argue over the set of the tires. This obviously impacts her focus, and she only qualifies in 30th.
  • Baker Mudfield calls out Foggy Cockburn, who he blames for the crash last week. He seems fired up and this seems to benefit him, letting him start in 10th.
  • Paul Blart takes part in a phone in interview, and will start 14th.

RACE 5 - 2019 - 20 turns

Rio corgo 200

Vila Real, Portugal

Remember that each turn is 10 miles, and is represented by the skill being checked and the group of drivers being checked. With regards to groups, 1st - 7th is TOP, 8th - 19th is MIDDLE and 20th and below is BOTTOM.

TURN 1 - DUEL - TOP - A quiet start, as Cam Cargo decides against a duel so early on, looking at his limited chances if he was to go for it.

TURN 2 - TROUBLE - TOP AND LEAD - Oh dear. What a start to the race! Ragnar Slipper and Victor Lucky have a big coming together (DelBoy, Jac, Victor, Gary, Cam and Marthis all avoiding it) which flips Ragnar up and over, and out of the race! Lucky gets repaired and back into it, but so much for Ragnar's hope for back to back wins!

TURN 3 - YELLOW FLAG

TURN 4 - YELLOW FLAG

TURN 5 - TROUBLE - MIDDLE - The middle group have a clear case of "I can do better", apparently. Baker Mudfield, Checkers McGreen, Al Houns, Lars Ungar, Paul Blart, Ignacio Del Gato, Lem Tables and Manne Love get caught in the crash, with Jane Kinglet (boost), Rodney Trotter, Strangeloaf and Randy Flamethrower avoiding it.

TURN 6 - YELLOW FLAG - It seems like Checkers McGreen is done for the day, but all of the others caught in the crash get back out onto track just fine.

TURN 7 - PIT TURN - Fast pits from Dr. Strangeloaf, Randy Flamethrower, Angelina Muir, Jac Houns, Cam Cargo, Gary Gannet and Xavier Tate. Gary Gannet sounds fired up over radio comms, and he gets a great jump at the end of his pit, taking the lead from DelBoy Trotter!

POSITIONS AFTER PIT 1:

1st -- Gary Gannet

3rd -- Xavier Tate

TURN 8 - DUEL - MIDDLE - Tom Reynolds attempts to take on Foggy Cockburn, but messes it up. Still, he escapes trouble. This gives Bargain Bill the idea to have a go at Foggy too, and he successfully gets past into 13th. Foggy avoids trouble and sits fine in 14th for now.

TURN 9 - TROUBLE - TOP AND LEAD - A road race such as this was always going to be more difficult for these oval minded racers, and it shows here. Drew Breezus gets it very wrong into the final hairpin, slamming himself into the wall and forcing an immediate engine shut off. Gannet, Trotter, Tate, Jac Houns, Cargo and Fiino all avoid trouble again this time, but Trotter and Tate have to use boosts to power out of the turn so they can avoid Breezus' run wide.

TURN 10 - YELLOW FLAG

TURN 11 - TV - TOP - No moves, as we have no TV drivers in this group.

TURN 12 - DUEL - FUME/FEUD - Jac Houns, obviously still seething, goes for Gannet - feud time! Houns bounces off, though, getting it all wrong, and drops to last place! The feud must surely continue now as Gannet sits pretty!

TURN 13 - SMART - TOP - No moves, as no-one in the top group has this quality. Makes sense, looking at some of the action so far!

TURN 14 - SMART - MIDDLE - Klodeus Cig fails to overtake DelBoy Trotter, Dr. Strangeloaf uses their performance boost to defend against Tom Reynolds, Andrew Fiddler uses their performance boost to defend against Bargain Bill and Angelina Muir uses their performance boost to attack! She manages to force past Andrew Fiddler, taking 6th place.

TURN 15 - CONTROL - MIDDLE - Xavier Tate uses their performance boost to defend against Colin McAdam, Sweet Clyde fails the attack and rerolls due to starred Control quality, eventually taking 5th from 13th. Cam Cargo uses their performance boost to defend against Foggy Cockburn, before Randy Flamethrower (10) overtakes DelBoy Trotter and moves to #2.

TURN 16 - RARE - TOP - Driver incident! Gannet and Flamethrower! Both are off! Flamethrower is OUT - Gannet to the back! Another name to the feud list! DelBoy leads!

TURN 17 - PIT TURN - Dr. Strangeloaf, Jack Carmichael, Jane Kinglet and Lefty Louis all gain boosts from fast pitting. Marthis Fiino attempts to wrestle the lead from DelBoy, but can't get it to work and Trotter leads off pit lane.

24th -- Gunther Heindrickson

26th -- Xander Louis

28th -- Baker Mudfield

30th -- Lars Ungar

32nd -- Manne Love

34th -- Lem Tables

TURN 18 - TROUBLE - MIDDLE - Here we go again! Carmichael, Strangeloaf, Kinglet and Louis all use their boosts to avoid trouble, while Avianna, Cockburn, Cig and McAdam avoid the crash. This leaves Bargain Bill, Rodney Trotter, Tom Reynolds and Selinia Spiders sliding and crashing. They do all manage to repair, but it's destroyed their races and cost them valuable points. It'll also mean at least one extension to the race!

TURN 19 - YELLOW FLAG

TURN 20 - YELLOW FLAG

TURN 21 - SMART - TOP - Sprint finish, and it's a dramatic finish as well! Angelina Muir, running 3rd with three turns left, manages to slam and bang past DelBoy Trotter, which carries her into the lead, and her first ever iStock Developmental Win! Hard luck for Trotter, but he will likely be happy with his best ever finish too.
