Race 3 - 2019

Developmental Series

In the media this week...

  • At a press conference today from the Cardiff City Racers garage, Gary Gannet of North Isles Racing was put on notice by both City drivers that the reckless driving at the end of last week's race which resulted in Jac Houns spinning off onto the grass and finishing way down the field would not be tolerated. Jac said "Gary had better be looking over his shoulder in the next race because both Al and myself will be keeping a close eye on him." When Jac was asked whether there was any possibility of retaliation, Jac said "No comment." She'll start second, so the potential for drama remains.
  • Checkers McGreen and Magnum Motors held a press conference to decry the pattern of irresponsible driving that is already showing up just two races into the season. Checkers was knocked to the back of the pack in the first race and knocked completely out of the second race. "On the last lap, no less!" exclaimed McGreen. "If the league doesn't have the guts to discipline the drivers, then I'll have to take care of it on the course!" McGreen refused to elaborate what that means but the next race could speak volumes: then qualified third, which is a huge boost to his team.
  • Dr. Strangeloaf phones in to a radio show to defend his radically different car design. We'll see if it benefits him this week, with him starting 14th.
  • Baker Mudfield had what he felt was a disappointing session. "You gotta take the good with the bad." he says, but leaves people confused, as he actually qualifies 8th!
  • Klodeus Cig and Victor Lucky have an altercation, with both blaming each other for not taking pole. They'll start 5th and 4th respectively, with the potential for real fireworks.
  • Xavier Tate visits a local children's' hospital and this seems to go over really well. He'll start in 10th this week.

RACE 3 - 2019 - 22 turns

Generac 500

marne, mi

Remember that each turn is 10 miles, and is represented by the skill being checked and the group of drivers being checked. With regards to groups, 1st - 7th is TOP, 8th - 19th is MIDDLE and 20th and below is BOTTOM.

TURN 1 - REFLEX - BOTTOM - Winter McFish (38) overtakes Gary Gannet and moves to #18, Xavier Tate uses their performance boost to defend against Jane Kinglet! Andrew Fiddler (26) overtakes Angelina Muir and moves to #12. That means bonus points for pole sitter Ragnar Slipper!

TURN 2 - HEAT - TOP - no moves at all during this stint, with Ragnar defending the lead well from challenges from Ignacio Del Gato, DelBoy Trotter, Victory Lucky, Klodeus Cig AND Checkers McGreen!

TURN 3 - REFLEX - BOTTOM - Avianna Muir (38) overtakes Andrew Fiddler and moves to #12, but is then taken in turn by Lefty Louis. Drew Breezus (30) compounds the misery for Fiddler and moves to #14. Randy Flamethrower (28) overtakes Lefty Louis and moves to #12 before Gunther Heindrickson (25) overtakes Xavier Tate and moves to #10.

TURN 4 - CONTROL - TOP - no moves from the top group again, with only Checkers McGreen having a go, and failing.

TURN 5 - TV - TOP - finally a bit of action at the front! Checkers McGreen sells Ragnar Slipper a dummy and coasts past him completely cleanly, perhaps vindicating his mid-week press conference! CHECKERS MCGREEN LEADS!

TURN 6 - REFLEX - TOP - and it goes quiet again, with Ragnar aiming to take the lead back, but not managing to do it.

TURN 7 - PIT TURN - Fast pits and boosts therefore for Jac Houns, Victor Lucky, Xavier Tate and Dr. Strangeloaf. A momentary issue in the pits holds McGreen back, and it's Victor Lucky that grabs the lead from him! VICTOR LUCKY LEADS!

TURN 8 - TROUBLE - MIDDLE - Drama on mile 78! Baker Mudfield and Drew Breezus - teammates - get caught up with each other and they're both sideways and uncontrollable. Xavier Tate manages to squirt around them using his boost from the pits, but Gunther Heindrickson, Randy Flamethrower and Lefty Louis take damage. Jack Carmichael, Andrew Fiddler, Rodney Trotter, Angelina Muir and Cam Cargo all manage to fit through and get out of danger.

TURN 9 - YELLOW FLAG - Flamethrower, Louis and Heindrickson all get back underway, but have serious ground to make up now.

TURN 10 - YELLOW FLAG - Baker Mudfield manages to repair and rejoins at the back, but not after serious argument over the radio as to whether it was his fault or his teammate's!

TURN 11 - HEAT - MIDDLE - Tom Reynolds (18) overtakes Ragnar Slipper and moves to #4, and Dr. Strangeloaf (16) overtakes Ignacio Del Gato and moves to #7. Strangeloaf is immediately under pressure from Jack Carmichael, but fends him off using his boost.

TURN 12 - RARE - MIDDLE - News from Solid State Drive's pit - Bargain Bill managed to clip one of his pit crew last time, and with no backup, they'll be a man down for future pits. This may well reduce his efficiency in the next pit segment, coming up in 5 turns.

TURN 13 - DUEL - TOP - Jac Houns decides against a duel, especially after her comments about Gannet earlier in the week.

TURN 14 - SMART - TOP - Victor Lucky uses their performance boost to defend against Klodeus Cig, and Jac Houns uses hers to attack, seizing the lead from a now exposed Lucky! JAC HOUNS LEADS!

TURN 15 - HEAT - TOP - It doesn't last long for Houns! She's passed by Dr. Strangeloaf, getting himself some bonus points, but then he loses out to Klodeus Cig who manages to force the good doctor too high. Cig then fights off three further challenges for the position, and settles in well in first. KLODEUS CIG LEADS!

TURN 16 - DUEL - TOP - Ragnar Slipper attempts to duel Dr. Strangeloaf, seeing an opportunity even all the way from 7th. He's successful - just - causing a heartstopping moment as he bangs tires with Strangeloaf. However, they both escape trouble, and Ragnar is back at the front! RAGNAR SLIPPER LEADS!

TURN 17 - PIT TURN - Bargain Bill does indeed suffer from losing a trained jack man, and loses six places in this pit - from 12th to 18th. Elsewhere, fast pits from DelBoy Trotter, Jack Carmichael, Jane Kinglet, Avianna Muir, Cam Cargo, Selinia Spiders and Andrew Fiddler may help over the last 50 miles. The action at the front continues, with Klodeus Cig winning the race off pit road, and taking first! KLODEUS CIG LEADS!

TURN 18 - SKILL - TOP - Dr. Strangeloaf (3) overtakes Klodeus Cig and moves to #1, but is then taken again by Ragnar Slipper, who takes the lead yet again! What a race from these three!

TURN 19 - REFLEX - TOP - no action to report, as everyone seems to settle down a little for one last burst.

TURN 20 - DUEL - again, softly, softly, with neither Bargain Bill nor Xavier Tate willing to have a go at Tate's teammate.

TURN 21 - DUEL - Lucky's only option would be to take on Strangeloaf, and he seems strangely accepting of 5th instead of possibly crashing out!

TURN 22 - TV - BOTTOM - sitting in a comfortable 14th, Andrew Fiddler uses their performance boost to defend against Baker Mudfield, and that's all she wrote!
