Race 7 - Knockhill, scotland

In the media this week...

  • Vasili Mikhailov has a fantastic week of qualifying, and it's back to back poles for the first time in main series history! Congratulations to him and Allied Racing!
  • Victor Lucky impresses many and qualifies well above his weight, starting up in 3rd place with a performance boost ready and raring to go.
  • Seems like the track really suits some drivers - Nathan Dunkleman will round off the top three with a performance boost ready to go!
  • Urist Tannhauser just missed hte ideal sweet spot during qualifying, but rounds off in fourth which he and his team will be delighted about - a good use of pre-race strategy from last week.
  • Dominic Jackson tries to emulate his teammate but isn't quite able to hit the heady heights. After a week in which he features on a radio phone-in and is widely derided for driving below his skill, he will begin in 14th place.
  • Emil Ziskie continues his war with Travis Elford, dissing him repeatedly in the pre-race press conference. Emil will begin in 17th, which is a positive result.
  • L.A. Brick has a spectacular week and at any other track he would have ended up in pole! He'll begin in 5th place - but with two performance boosts to go, he may be a safe bet.
  • Fred Orca rounds off the TV list with a solid list - he's another driver in the top group, taking 6th, and yet another one with a performance boost ready!

DNQ: Abnaber Salad - following a bad crash during qualifying, Salad is unable to race this weekend and is recovering in a local medical centre.

Developmental Series (5 turn sprint race)

Honda 50

TURN 1 - HEAT - TOP - No moves at the start, with Varalia looking to take a second win this season and really put the pain to championship rival Valkyr. This ties up some more bonus points for her, which will always go down well.

TURN 2 - HEAT - MIDDLE - Elias attempts to shift from the back but isn't able to make any progress. We see Violet Carrick move up to 7th, and Sweet Clyde finds himself in the middle of the pack, enabling him to shift up with some drafting and head up to 3rd overall.

TURN 3 - CONTROL - MIDDLE - Lars Ungar makes his move up from 14th to 8th, but the biggest shift is Fireplug Fitzpatrick, who heads all the way up to 5th.

TURN 4 - SKILL - TOP - Fireplug Fitzpatrick continues his fantastic race thus far, making move after move after move, and eventually manages to grab the lead! Mason Shelton almost follows him but is blocked superbly by Clyde. FIREPLUG FITZPATRICK LEADS!

TURN 5 - HEAT - MIDDLE - Spiders will be sick - a huge surge from Aaron Slipper over the last five miles propels him past her, all the way up to 2nd! She'll keep the podium but that's valuable points lost as the season progresses. However, some would say at least it was that Slipper, rather than the other...

Remember that each turn is 10 miles, and is represented by the skill being checked and the group of drivers being checked. With regards to groups, 1st - 7th is TOP, 8th - 19th is MIDDLE and 20th and below is BOTTOM.

TURN 1 - STAR - BOTTOM - As ever, a check of the bottom group always starts off busily! Moves from Yokum Schmidt (39th > 20th), Aaliyah Stover (38th > 17th), Rain Winterson (37th > 9th!), Prichard (25th > 18th ) and Tamauria Spiders (23rd > 15th) provide plenty of action over the first ten miles. We also see Corey Creek force Tim Walker to use up a performance boost, as does Daniel Burman for Garrad McKinley.

TURN 2 - HEAT - TOP - Bonus points for Vasili, but he's under immediate pressure! Airen forces him to use his performance boost, which allows L.A. Brick in to take the lead. L.A. BRICK LEADS!

TURN 3 - TV - TOP - Nathan Dunkleman forces the leader to use up their boost, as does Urist with L.A. Brick, who still has one left. Brick elects not to fight Vasili Mikhailov too much, and the Russian retakes the lead with lots of ground still to go. VASILI MIKHAILOV LEADS!

TURN 4 - STAR - BOTTOM - A few moves at the back - Travis Elford (32nd > 12th), Paul Puffin (28th > 11th), Daniel Burman (31st > 20th), Max Von Passum (up to 10th) and Emil Ziskie (26th > 16th) all have success.

TURN 5 - CONTROL - MIDDLE - Again, the performance boosts prevent some moves, with Fred Orca, Victor Lucky and Nathan Dunkleman having to use their boosts to keep their positions. Travis Elford moves from 12th to 5th, and Airen Slipper makes up four places to finish the stint in 4th.

TURN 6 - STAR - TOP - No moves at all, with none of the drivers able or willing to push onwards so close to a pit chance.

TURN 7 - PIT TURN - Fast pits for Vasili Mikhailov, L.A. Brick, Nathan Dunkleman, Airen Slipper, Urist Tannhauser and Victor Lucky - basically everyone but Travis Elford in the top group! The race on pit lane ends with L.A. Brick getting out just a nose ahead and retaking the lead. L.A. BRICK LEADS!

40th -- Selinia Spiders

42nd -- Winter McFish

TURN 8 - DUEL - MIDDLE - Tim Walker has a go at Fred Orca, and passes him with no trouble for either men. Emboldened by this, Manne Love follows, and although it's much tighter this time, again disaster is averted. Tim now sits in 9th, Manne 8th.

TURN 9 - HEAT - MIDDLE - No moves, but Egil Van Can forces Urist Tannhauser to spend a performance boost, as does Tom Reynolds with Airen Slipper.

TURN 10 - SKILL - MIDDLE - Garrad McKinley moves from 19th to 7th, Max Von Passum from 13th to 4th, and Victor Lucky uses his performance boost to put him into the top group, taking 6th. Tamauria Spiders forces Nathan Dunkleman to use up their boost, which won't go down well.

TURN 11 - STAR - MIDDLE - Takumi Fujiwara moves ten places from 16th to 6th, and Paul Puffin impresses with a twelve place surge from 15th to 3rd.

TURN 12 - REFLEX - TOP - Takumi Fujiwara appears again, forcing leader L.A. Brick to use their performance boost, exposing them to Vasili Mikhailov, who snatches the lead.

TURN 13 - TV - MIDDLE - Not much action here, except Urist Tannhauser moving up 5 places from 10th to 5th.

TURN 14 - SMART - BOTTOM - Quite a few moves from the bottom group, taking their chances where they can. Winter McFish (42nd > 20th), Selenia Spiders (40th > 19th), A.I. Kraken (36th > 13th), Aaliyah Stover (24th > 18th) and Cucumbers Caulfield (20th > 11th) all make progress. Interestingly, the extra acceleration put on the car by Kraken's team for this race is the only reason he made such big progress - the strategy has paid off!

TURN 15 - REFLEX - TOP - A busy ten miles for the top group - first Urist Tannhauser takes the lead, then L.A. Brick - but at the end of it all, it's that man Vasili back in the lead when the dust settles.

TURN 16 - SMART - TOP - Conserving again, perhaps, with no moves ahead of Turn 17's pit stops.

TURN 17 - PIT TURN - Fast pits from Takumi Fujiwara, Airen Slipper, Garrad McKinley, L.A. Brick, Cucumbers Caulfield and Tom Reynolds set them all up nicely for the final part of the race, and Takumi sets out his stall clearly by taking the lead at the end of the pit lane! TAKUMI FUJIWARA LEADS!

1st -- Takumi Fujiwara

TURN 18 - DUEL - MIDDLE - Both A.I. Kraken and Travis Elford have the opportunity to have a go at Cucumbers Caulfield, but knowing that they would likely fail in a major way, looking at his performance boosts, they both back off. He is a scary man, after all.

TURN 19 - REFLEX - TOP - Not a lot going on here either, with L.A. Brick exposing Takumi Fujiwara by forcing him to use his boost - but that's about it.

TURN 20 - HEAT - MIDDLE - Tim Walker heads up from 17th to 3rd, and Cucumbers Caulfield puts himself in a great place, taking 4th with two performance boosts ready.

TURN 21 - REFLEX - BOTTOM - Kerry Mackinaw (43rd > 14th), Corky Cadorkian (37th > 19th) and Jay Wolff (42nd > 13th) all make big moves.

TURN 22 - SKILL - TOP - Another crazy little section, with Paul Puffin of all people grabbing the lead. He is quickly usurped by Cucumbers Caulfield, but then L.A. Brick shows his strategy chops - stripping Caulfield of a boost by really pushing him, then using his own boost and starred quality to get past him to take the lead yet again. L.A. BRICK LEADS!

TURN 23 - SMART - TOP - No moves as the drivers presumably attempt to calm down and think about their final 20 miles in the race.

TURN 24 - CONTROL - MIDDLE - Three moves with two drivers seeing that it's now or never with their performance boosts - Travis Elford moves up naturally from 17th to 5th, Airen Slipper boosts to 6th from 11th, but it's Garrad setting himself up for the final 10 by moving from 12th to 3rd.

TURN 25 - SKILL - TOP - Paul Puffin can't take the lead - but Garrad can! Garrad McKinley leads with two miles to go, and despite a last minute lunge from L.A. Brick, he snatches an improbable win seemingly out of nowhere! What a finish!

Drivers with an unspent performance chip are Tom Reynolds and Boothby Grafoe.

Two awards will be made, with each receiving a chip too:

  • Driver of the Day: Vasili Mikhailov - after such a strong start, he'll be disappointed with his finish place - but as a 3/1 driver, he did impressively well today.
  • Unlucky Driver of the Day: Dominic Jackson - the other Allied Racing driver, interestingly, who failed almost every check that he made, finishing well below what his 4/2 status would belie.

Choices will be emailed no later than Wednesday if their owners have enabled them.
