Race 6 - ASSEN TT

In the media this week...

  • Kiki Roseburg's pit crew are absolutely on it this week. A marvellous piece of work gives them a car with quality they've not really had before, and Kiki will start up in 6th as a result: with a performance boost waiting too.
  • Vasili Mikhailov is also onto a good thing here. A combination of new equipment, sponsor renewal and general fluidity contributes to a fantastic race week. He'll start on pole!
  • Paul Puffin praises his sponsors for their support in a radio segment, which I'm sure will go on well. He also has a good couple of sessions and will start in 8th.
  • Oliver Otter, the rookie racing for North Isles, has a worse go of it. He has tyre problems throughout, and will start in 34th.
  • Daniel Burman has a superb week and just sets scorching lap after scorching lap. He's just a fraction of a second off taking pole, and will begin in second with a performance boost giving him an advantage over Mikhailov.

Developmental Series (5 turn sprint race)

Assen TT

TURN 1 - SMART - TOP - Varalia immediately takes the lead, extremely comfortably with her starred quality. That means no bonus for pole-sitter Franceso, who drops to second.

TURN 2 - PROBLEM - TOP - It's Varalia! Varalia comes up with a big problem - their clutch has immediately begun to malfunction under the stress of the race. She manages to get in and get repaired, but she's last now. Franceso leads and gets bonus points!

TURN 3 - REFLEX - MIDDLE - Abnaber Salad, having a very quiet year so far, gets a good push going and ends up in 2nd: all the way from 16th!

TURN 4 - CONTROL - TOP - It's all go at the front! Elias takes the lead, but is quickly followed and passed by Marthis Fiino, racing in Elias to lead, Marthiis to lead, bonus points.

TURN 5 - REFLEX - MIDDLE - No moves at all are made despite 7 drivers qualifying for the check, so that's how we finish!

Remember that each turn is 10 miles, and is represented by the skill being checked and the group of drivers being checked. With regards to groups, 1st - 7th is TOP, 8th - 19th is MIDDLE and 20th and below is BOTTOM.

TURN 1 - CONTROL - MIDDLE - A busy period in the middle of the pack means that Vasili Mikhailov will pick up the bonus points for leading from pole. Dominic Jackson moves from 18th all the way up to 6th, and Garrad McKinley won't be outdone either and heads up to 3rd. Airen Slipper forces Daniel Burman to use his performance boost, and Kiki Roseburg drops down into the middle section, then back up again to 4th by the end of mile 9.

TURN 2 - SMART - BOTTOM - Tim Walker makes a good start after a poor qualifying, heading up to 21st from 38th. Fred Orca makes an appearance on camera as he moves from 28th up to 15th.

TURN 3 - TV - TOP - Kiki Roseburg, featured on the TV list this week, moves up and seizes the lead and some very valuable bonus points! However, it's shortlived - 2 miles later, Vasili Mikhailov takes back the lead, forcing Kiki back to second.

TURN 4 - SKILL - MIDDLE - Paul Puffin heads up to 6th from 10th, and Jay Wolff also climbs 4 places up to 4th.

TURN 5 - STAR - MIDDLE - Lots of focus on the middle of the pack. Prichard moves ten places forward from 17th to 7th, Airen Slipper the same from 14th to 4th, and Selenia Spiders also does the same - 16th to 6th!

TURN 6 - SKILL - MIDDLE - Boothby Grafoe climbs a good chunk of places, from 19th to 6th, Tamauria Spiders moves up to 5th from 8th, but the story is all Brick! LA Brick, using the most of his starred quality, jumps from 10th to 5th then into the lead! L.A. BRICK LEADS!

TURN 7 - PIT TURN - We see fast pits from a bevvy of drivers: Wolf, Creek, Kraken, Van Can, Caulfield, McKinley, Prichard, Westfall. Boothby Grafoe makes a lead challenge but fails to get much purchase on it, and Brick retains the lead.

TURN 8 - STAR - TOP - Vasili Mikhailov continues his superb race and takes the lead, but is then almost immediately passed himself by Tamauria Spiders, who will be very grateful for the bonus points! TAMAURIA SPIDERS LEADS!

TURN 9 - PROBLEM - TOP - That might be why Brick was falling back down the pace - he's got a clutch issue similar to that which we saw in the Developmental Sprint Race. A shame for him - he gets it repaired but he's at the back now and trundling back well off the pace.

TURN 10 - CONTROL - MIDDLE - Dominic Jackson has a great surge of pace, and ends up in 2nd all the way from 16th. AI Kraken is passed by him then follows him up to 4th. Jay Wolff uses his performance boost to head up to 5th from 15th, and Garrad McKinley moves up to 7th. Allied Racing are now sat 2nd and 3rd - what a race for them so far!

TURN 11 - DUEL - MIDDLE - Corey Creek tries to get to the front of the middle group, and is successful with getting past Kiki. Kiki manages to escape trouble, but is then passed by Egil Van Can who is also having a good go at things. He gets past Corey Creek, who in turn escapes trouble. Corey is now 9th, Egil 8th.

TURN 12 - MIDDLE - STAR - Prichard uses his performance boost to head up from 14th to 7th, and Egil Van Can makes a good series of moves to take 3rd.

TURN 13 - CONTROL - MIDDLE - A few moves from the middle of the pack here - Fred Orca from 16th to 12th, Daniel Burman from 12th to 9th, Garrad McKinley up to 5th, Cucumbers Caulfield up from 15th to 11th, Kiki Roseburg from 11th to 6th and Airen Slipper heads to 4th from 8th.

TURN 14 - TV - MIDDLE - No moves during this portion of the race, with the camera showing Paul Puffin and Daniel Burman unable to do much.

TURN 15 - BOTTOM - STAR - Travis Elford goes from 38th to 21st, Emil Ziskie climbs 11 places from 33rd to 22nde, Urist Tannhauser finally gets some momentum and ends up in 15th from 26th, Nathan Dunkleman moves from 25th to 13th, Rain Winterson from 23rd to 16th and Tim Walker continues his great day going up to 14th from 20th.

TURN 16 - CONTROL - MIDDLE - Cucumbers Caulfield uses his performance boost to climb up to 7th and into the top group, but this turns out to be a bit of a mistake as he's pushed back to the middle group by AI Kraken, who steals his place.

TURN 17 - PIT TURN - Lots of fast pits from almost all of the top and middle groups. Tamauria, Airen, Kiki, AI, Jay, Cuce, Tim, Urist, Nate, Dane, Corey and Boothby all get some boosts which could be critical at the end of this race. Garrad McKinley almost seizes the lead from Tamauria on pit exit, but she burns her performance boost to keep him out of it. Risky decision - she's exposed now.

TURN 18 - STAR - MIDDLE - Prichard forces Kiki Roseburg to use their performance boost, but this opens them up to Rain Winterson, who takes them - then uses her starred quality to move again, taking the lead! It's short lived, however, as Daniel Burman also uses his starred quality to head into 5th, then ahead of Rain. Corey Creek also plays a part, forcing AI Kraken to use up their boost. However, we're not done yet! Egil Van Can uses his boost to keep Urist back a bit, but then loses his place to Tim Walker. Walker then takes full advantage of his opportunity, and even manages to take the lead! What a performance from the man who started 38th! TIM WALKER LEADS!

TURN 19 - REFLEX - BOTTOM - Kerry Mackinaw does well - heading all the way from 39th up to 10th when all is said and done. Prichard also has a great jump, ending up 9th. Conor Westfall forces Corey Creek to use their performance boost - same for Emil Ziskie with Jay Wolff. Both could be telling.

TURN 20 - TV - TOP - A check of the top group but only one person qualifies! It's Burman time, from 2nd position, and he passes his checks but not Tim Walker, who turns on the performance boost just in time to nose ahead on the line!

Drivers with an unspent performance chip are AI Kraken, Garrad McKinley, Airen Slipper, Cucumbers Caulfield, Urist Tannhauser, Nathan Dunkleman, Boothby Grafoe and Conor Westfall.

Two awards will be made, with each receiving a chip too:

  • Driver of the Day: Tim Walker - from 38th to 1st is unheard of - what a performance.
  • Unlucky Driver of the Day: Vasili Mikhailov - a super start to the race, then failed every check from turn 10 onwards and fell all the way back to 19th. Awful luck.

Choices will be emailed no later than Wednesday if their owners have enabled them.
