Race 10 - Fort worth, tx.

In the media this week...

  • Corey Creek and Manne Love get into a serious war of words on Twitter which spills over onto the track and into pit row as well. There's some serious bad blood flowing here, but it may be working out for each man - it leaves Corey 3rd and on track for a top 10 place in his rookie year, and Manne Love 7th which is well above his average.
  • The other half of John Aston Racing, which is rumoured to be being dissolved, also has a great week. Corky Cadorkian will start in 4th, just behind Corey, with a performance boost ready to go too.
  • Tom Reynolds releases his new book - "Moustaches and the Men Who Ride Them" - to much acclaim. This seems to lift the spirit of the team and he'll start in 5th. A good weekend ahead for himself and teammate Manne Love?
  • Takumi Fujiwara appears to have changed his tack and this week went off the rails on social media, slating Mobius Engineering's backroom staff. It seems to have worked - he'll start 6th but may not be very popular.
  • Conor Westfall, having a moderately successful rookie season, is finishing it with a bang. A fantastic week of pace for him puts him on pole, with a performance boost to burn as and when he wants it.

Developmental Series (5 turn sprint race)

TURN 1 - RARE - BOTTOM - A very odd start, with the two racers right at the back colliding almost immediately. Avianna Muir and Xavier Tate take each other off into the grass! Both are back and running again with very little problem but a bizarre start from the two drivers in their first ever race.

TURN 2 - STAR - BOTTOM - Not wanting to get caught up in further shenanigans, Abnaber Salad moves from 34th to 9th, and Bargain Bill, a debutant, makes numerous passes to make his way from 35th to 11th.

TURN 3 - PROBLEM - MIDDLE - Klodeus Cig is reporting a clutch problem and pits to fix it, dropping him to last.

TURN 4 - SMART - TOP - No moves this turn - Jac Houns and Varalia Spiders both have options to move up, but Ignacio is having none of it.

TURN 5 - CONTROL - MIDDLE - Looks like Ignacio has it all sewn up - what a start! Violet Carrick, in probably her last ever race, moves from 18th to 5th, but Foggy Cockburn can't get any progress over this ten mile stint, despite his best efforts.

It's a debut win for Ignacio Del Gato!

Enjoying the racing? This survey is super important! Please fill it in! https://goo.gl/forms/B6SjXEbqmQBfqnjE3

However, you can ignore Q3. Due to a new automation system being brought in, we are delighted to announce that Developmental Series races will be full length next season - a length that matches the main series race. More details to follow.

RACE 10 - tEXAS 500

Remember that each turn is 10 miles, and is represented by the skill being checked and the group of drivers being checked. With regards to groups, 1st - 7th is TOP, 8th - 19th is MIDDLE and 20th and below is BOTTOM.

TURN 1 - REFLEX - MIDDLE - Another cagey opening for our longest race of the season - will the cars have the stamina? Selinia Spiders moves from 15th to 8th, just outside of the top group and Dominic Jackson from 13th to 6. LA Brick is at it early, forcing Cadorkian to use his performance boost early.

TURN 2- TV - TOP - Superb teamwork here! Corky Cadorkian forces race leader Conor Westfall to use his performance boost, which allows Corey Creek to sail past and into the lead! COREY CREEK LEADS!

TURN 3 - MIDDLE - TROUBLE - Lots of escapes from the crew here, with Jay Wolff, LA Brick, Victor Lucky, Cucumbers Caulfield, Manne Love and Selinia Spiders getting caught up in problems. Early drama!

TURN 4 - YELLOW FLAG

TURN 5 - YELLOW FLAG - A big disappointment here for Selinia - she's out, as is Manne Love. That pretty much ensures Manne's relegation to developmental, although Selinia should be safe. Should.

TURN 6 - HEAT - BOTTOM - A few moves from the back once we get underway again: Cannonball Malone (36 > 23), Nathan Dunkleman (29 > 11), Egil Van Can (32 > 15) and Max Von Passum (28 > 16) all making some headway. Egil needed a bit of a shift up the order to stay in the championship hunt - he needs a win today!

TURN 7 - PIT TURN - Fast pits from Daniel Burman, Tamauria Spiders, Egil Van Can, Airen Slipper, Urist Tannhauser, Yokum Schmidt and Nathan Dunkleman set them up well. A gutsy lead challenge from Oliver Otter fails to stick, leaving Corey in the lead.

POSITIONS AFTER PIT 1:

3rd -- Conor Westfall

5th -- Tom Reynolds

7th -- Takumi Fujiwara

Out:

Turn 3 - Selenia Spiders, Manne Love (accident).

TURN 8 - TV - MIDDLE - No moves as no driver is on the TV list in the middle group at the moment, so we just follow them around for a while and have a few adverts.

TURN 9 - TV - TOP - The story continues - Takumi Fujiwara kicks it up a notch, confident with what he has, and he soars into the lead. TAKUMI FUJIWARA LEADS!

TURN 10 - SMART - TOP - Well, that didn't last long. Dominic Jackson feels emboldened by the lead changes so far and he has a go, making it stick this time and pushing Takumi back to second. DOMINIC JACKSON LEADS!

TURN 11 - CONTROL - MIDDLE - QUite a few moves from the group this time - Daniel Burman from 14th to 10th, Airen boosts from 11th to 6th, as does Yokum from 9th to 4th and Nate from 8th to 5th. Tamauria Spiders starts to get people talking as she powers from 13th all the way to 2nd - with bonus points and the win today, and Wolff scoring nothing, she could still win the title.

TURN 12 - DUEL - MIDDLE - Potential for more drama passes, as Leapfrog Jones duels and passes Otter, but Oliver survives, and then Max Von Passum duels Leapfrog, again passing with no problem. Phew!

TURN 13 - RARE - BOTTOM - It's never quiet long - Orca gets all out of sorts and slams on the brakes for some bizarre reason, forcing Tim Walker into the back of him. Off the track goes Walker, but Orca is fine. Tim gets himself repaired and back, but in last - and furious.

TURN 14 - YELLOW FLAG - debris is cleared from the track.

TURN 15 - STAR - TOP - Corey Creek is at it again, this time using his starred quality to take the lead from 6th place. However, it doesn't last long: Nathan Dunkleman passes him, then is followed by a Tamauria Spiders lunge which sticks and makes many in the crowd wince. TAMAURIA SPIDERS LEADS!

TURN 16 - BOTTOM - HEAT - Quite a few moves - Tim Walker, Randy Flamethrower, LA Brick, Prichard, Ben Stover and Travis Elford all make moves up the field, while Cannonball Malone forces Urist Tannhauser to use his performance boost to keep his position.

TURN 17 - PIT TURN - We have fast pits from Tom Reynolds, Oliver Otter, Daniel Burman and Conor Westfall: this leaves Burman with two boosts - a very powerful position to be in. Tamauria's lead doesn't last long - Corey Creek wins the battle of pit lane and gets past her on the exit! Fantastic skill from John Aston Racing!

POSITIONS AFTER PIT 2:

1st -- Corey Creek

3rd -- Nathan Dunkleman

5th -- Dominic Jackson

30th -- Rain Winterson

32nd -- Winter McFish

34th -- Fred Orca

36th -- Garrad McKinley

38th -- A.I. Kraken

40th -- Victor Lucky

Out:

Turn 3 - Selenia Spiders, Manne Love (accident).

TURN 18 - CONTROL - MIDDLE - Travis Elford heads from 15th to 5th, Randy Flamethrower from 14th to 7th, and Daniel Burman races cleanly and without using any boost all the way from 10th to 2nd! He is fighting to avoid relegation - what a performance so far.

TURN 19 - PROBLEM - MIDDLE - A big bang along the back straight - Yokum Schmidt has pushed it too far, and his engine is blown. He's out of the race but manages to coast in, not requiring a yellow flag.

TURN 20 - PROBLEM - BOTTOM - Winter McFish is radioed by her team that her oil pressures look all wrong - she pits and has it fixed, but it's cost her her place and she sits last.

TURN 21 - TV - MIDDLE - Corky can't get himself moved, but Tom Reynolds boosts from 12th to 7th, and Conor Westfall boosts from 10th to 5th.

TURN 22 - STAR - TOP - Daniel Burman uses one of his boosts to take the lead, leaving one boost left, but Corey Creek immediately takes it back from him. Still, bonus points for Burman will be very handy.

TURN 23 - PROBLEM - BOTTOM - Fred Orca is reporting handling problems, but gets repaired, again dropping him to the back. Is the reliability of the cars over this longer race going to continue posing problems?

TURN 24 - TV - BOTTOM - No drivers qualify for this check, so it's a dull section of the race for the viewers.

TURN 25 - TROUBLE - BOTTOM - It is a BIG ONE. A six car smash happens when Cannonball Malone, last in the championship, gets desperate and tries to seize a position he had no right to. He collects Flash Finley, Vasili Mikhailov, Hunky Davis, AI Kraken and Cucumbers Caulfield, but he's the only one out, as the others all get back on track.

TURN 26 - YELLOW FLAG

TURN 27 - PIT TURN UNDER YELLOWS - Fast pits from Randy Flamethrower, Tim Walker, LA Brick, Max Von Passum, Leapfrog Jones, Oliver Otter, Airen Slipper, Dominic Jackson, Urist Tannhauser and Ben Stover all give them a good chance later in the race.

Turn 25 - Cannonball Malone (accident)

TURN 28 - STAR - MIDDLE - We seem moves from Takumi Fujiwara (19th > 3rd!), Max Von Passum (14 > 5), Tim Walker (boosts to 7th from 16th) and Urist Tannhauser (boosts from 10th to 4th).

TURN 29 - CONTROL - BOTTOM - Cucumbers Caulfield forces Leapfrog Jones to use their boost, Garrad McKinley has a great sequence where he moves from 30th to 9th, Hunk Davis does similar from 37th to 13th and Aaliyah Stover heads up to 10th.

TURN 30 - HEAT - MIDDLE - Airen Slipper recognises the need to get a move on and wants a bigger gap, as he says over the radio to his team. He heads from 18th to 5th, using his boost to do so. Nathan Dunkleman continues to impress, moving from 8th to 3rd.

TURN 31 - HEAT - MIDDLE - Same again! Ben Stover moves from 17th to 8th and Tom Reynolds from 8th to 4th.

TURN 32 - SKILL - MIDDLE - Dominic Jackson boosts from 18th to 5th and Conor forces Daniel Burman to use up his boost. Ben Stover moves up one place to 7th.

TURN 33 - TROUBLE - TOP - We have a two car prang as Tom Reynolds and Takumi Fujiwara exchange door slaps. Both repair but both are now rolling last.

TURN 34 - YELLOW FLAG

TURN 35 - YELLOW FLAG

TURN 36 - DUEL - MIDDLE - It's risk time for Tamauria. She duels Max Von Passum, smashing right up against him to get past and to take 8th place. Max is in trouble and spins, needing some repair. Husky Davis gets his blood up and tries to take on Tam, but fails miserable and puts it into the wall, shearing off a wheel which bounces haplessly down pit lane. He's out!

TURN 37 - PIT TURN - Fast pits from Urist Tannhauser, Airen Slipper, Dominic Jackson and Daniel Burman - but Nathan Dunkleman comes out ahead of everyone - NATHAN DUNKLEMAN LEADS!

TURN 38 - YELLOW FLAG - Debris is spotted and cleared from Husky's car.

TURN 39 - TV - MIDDLE - No moves as Corky and Conor can't get it done.

TURN 40 - RARE - MIDDLE - SURGE! We haven't seen this before, but Travis Elford gets a whole wave of momentum and moves all the way up from 19th to 1st! TRAVIS ELFORD LEADS!

TURN 41 - STAR - TOP - Urist Tannhauser moves from 6th to first, taking away Travis' thunder, and then uses his boost to hold off Airen. However, this exposes him, and it's that man Burman again, taking first place again. DANIEL BURMAN LEADS!

TURN 42 - STAR - TOP - Another look at our star drivers. This time Ben Stover forces Daniel Burman to use his boost to hold position, which exposes him in turn to Airen Slipper, who takes the lead back! AIREN SLIPPER LEADS!

TURN 43 - REFLEX - BOTTOM - We see movement from Takumi Fujiwara (37th > 13th) and Rain Winterson (25th > 15th), with Emil forcing Oliver Otter to use a boost, and the same with Jay Wolff and Randy Flamethrower.

TURN 44 - DUEL - TOP - Travis Elford has a change, but with the Constructors Championship in the balance, holds off, as he had a very low chance of success.

TURN 45 - HEAT - TOP - Burman forces leader Airen Slipper to use his boost, exposing him. Could this be the chance?

TURN 46 - TV - TOP - Corey Creek is the only one that qualifies, and he can't make any progress.

TURN 47 - PIT TURN - Fast pits for a lot of the middle drivers - Garrad, Conor, Rain, Tamauria, Leapfrog, Tim, Egil, Brick, Otter and Dunkleman. However, all eyes flick to the front where Daniel Burman has again taken the lead! Can Tam use her boost to push on now?

Turn 19 - Yokum Schmidt (engine blowout)

Turn 25 - Cannonball Malone (accident)

Turn 36 - Hunky Davis (accident)

TURN 48 - RARE - MIDDLE - It's a middle turn, but not what Tam wanted. Instead, LA Brick gets a surge on (two in one race!) and he moves all the way up to first place! LA BRICK LEADS!

TURN 49 - SMART - TOP - Urist forces Brick to use his boost and this exposes him - it's Airen Slipper again - it's as if it is his destiny to take the championship today. AIREN SLIPPER LEADS!

TURN 50 - REFLEX - TOP - A crazy final ten miles - Dominic Jackson takes the lead, then Daniel Burman barges his way through into first - but on the line it's three abreast between these three superb drivers - and it's AIREN SLIPPER WHO TAKES THE LEAD AND THE CHAMPIONSHIP!

CHAMPIONSHIP STANDINGS

Click each table for a larger version.

Well, there we have it. Two and a half months of racing and we finally have our 2018 winners! Huge congratulations to all involved: there were so many great moments this season.

We are now into the Offseason. Once we've cleared Christmas and Boxing Day, I will be in touch via email to let people know where they stand with demotions, promotions etc. as well as the rule changes for next season.

Please avoid making any roster moves or plans until this email is received, and make sure you are signed up on Pathway 2 or 3 using the form in Contact Us if you want to receive it.

Very best wishes over the festive season, and we hope to see you on Saturday January 20th for our 2019 season!

Before you go... there are two surveys to fill in - but the main series one below is the most important.

Please note - if you do not "check-in" using the first question before the end of the season, your driver or drivers may be demoted even if they are not in the bottom 10.
