Race 4 - Kroger 350

In the media this week...

  • Kiki Roseburg has a superb week. Excellent harmony within the team and focus on improving on their fairly woeful championship position has a huge effect. Kiki slams it home in qualifying and will start 4th; with a performance boost enabled too!
  • Fred Orca has a disappointing week. Continued problems with the tires leaving him struggling for overall pace and our tip for "prettiest car on the grid 2017" won't count for much here. He'll start in 39th.
  • Selenia Spiders praises her sponsor, The Silk Road, live on TV. She backs this up with a solid qualifying performance and will start in 16th.
  • Tamauria Spiders shows that the TV crews are clearly enjoying The Spider Sisters, especially as they sit in third place in the standings. Tamauria rewards the spotlight with fantastic lapping during qualifying, and she'll start in fifth place for the race with a performance boost ready to go.
  • Egil Van Can features heavily on TV. A combination of new equipment, sponsor renewal and general focus which befits the ice cold racer means that he has a superb week. Riding high in the championship, today's qualifying position can only help him: it's pole position for Van Can!
  • Cucumbers Caulfield has some very position fan interactions this week, but we're prohibited from discussing them here as they became quite unpleasant for viewers quite quickly. He will round off the middle group, starting the race in 19th.

Developmental Series (5 turn sprint race)

Note: As we now have an expanded roster, we now have a top and a middle group, splitting the pack into a 5 (top) and a 6 (middle). TOP is an even number on the black dice, MIDDLE is odd. A roll to check the TV list people will mean a roll for all drivers instead, as there is no TV list in developmental.

KROGER 50

TURN 1 - STAR - MIDDLE - Corey Creek, last week's winner, wants to capitalise on the momentum and fire back from a poor qualifying. He jumps up from 7th to 6th almost immediately. Rain Winterson also seems set to try to make a name for herself, taking third and pushing Westfall and Otter backwards.

TURN 2 - HEAT - TOP - Westfall (4th) and Yokum Schmidt, still sitting in second, both make challenges on the lead, but can't quite dislodge Easter. Easter therefore gets his race lead bonus points!

TURN 3 - TV - It's all change - a huge amount of action. Hunky Davis (10th) moves up, eventually settling in third. Mason Shelton moves up into the top group, grabbing fifth. Xander Louis shifts up but has his progress impeded by several others, including his own teammate, as the two swap places. Winterson seizes the lead from Easter around mile 36, faking up the inside then smoothly sailing around the outside! RAIN WINTERSON LEADS!

TURN 4 - SKILL - MIDDLE - Both Stanley Tee (10th) and Conor Westfall (8th) attempt to make moves, but are unable to make progress into the top group.

TURN 5 - CONTROL - TOP - The scene is set for a climactic final set of miles! It doesn't disappoint - Mason Shelton cannot move up any further than his fifth place, but it's Hunky Davis having the race of his life in third place! He jukes not only debutant Easter, but also the race leader - and there he settles for the win!

HUNKY DAVIS WINS THE KROGER 50!

RACE 4 - kroger 350 - 26 turns

Remember that each turn is 10 miles, and is represented by the skill being checked and the group of drivers being checked. With regards to groups, 1st - 7th is TOP, 8th - 19th is MIDDLE and 20th and below is BOTTOM.

TURN 1 - CONTROL - TOP - Well, this is an iStock first! The pole sitter, Egil Van Can, will not get his leader lap points, as he is almost immediately overtaken by Tamauria Spiders of The Spider Sisters! However, the tide quickly turns at the three mile mark, as Kiki Roseburg impresses many with a smooth overtake of the leader. Airen Slipper senses a chance but fails to capitalise on it. NEW LEADERS - TAMAURIA SPIDERS THEN KIKI ROSEBURG.

TURN 2 - PROBLEM - TOP - An inauspicious start to the race for the top group. Poor Boothby Grafoe has a serious cooling problem and needs it fixed. His crew manage to get the blockage cleared but is forced to drop to the back. A crushing blow!

TURN 3 - REFLEX - MIDDLE - Nathan Dunkleman makes an attempt on Egil Van Can, but can't secure it. Cucumbers Caulfield jumps from 18th to 7th, Vasili Mikhailov from 11th to 4th, Randy Flamethrower surges up to 2nd place from 10th and Leapfrog Jones lives up to his name, ending up in third. Impressive stuff from the middle group!

TURN 4 - DUEL - TOP - Cucumbers Caulfield, bolstered by his TV appearance this week, makes a bold move against the leader. He is successful by quite some margin and takes the lead and the performance boost that goes with it. Roseburg is in trouble for a split second but corrects himself and avoids problems, settling into second. NEW LEADER - CUCUMBERS CAULFIELD.

TURN 5 - TROUBLE - TOP - The top group have a problem and it's Vasili Mikhailov and Leapfrog Jones blowing the opportunity they sought for themselves. In an incident that is almost entirely Leapfrog's fault, both men have to limp into the pits for repair. It's touch and go for Leapfrog during repairs but they just about get him out on the track again. Both men, of course, drop to last.

TURN 6 - REFLEX - TOP - A hugely busy start for the top group this race! Both Van Can and Randy Flamethrower make moves to try and get around Cucumbers Caulfield, but his two star defensive driving is almost unbeatable and they just can't get past him.

TURN 7 - PIT TURN - Flamethrower will be kicking himself - his crew removed equipment from the area by mistake and he must now serve a stop and go penalty, dropping him to the back. There are also further violations for L.A. Brick and Dominic Jackson - Brick for the same penalty as Flamethrower and Dominic Jackson had a commitment lane violation. There are supremely fast pits (and therefore performance boosts) for cars 42, 44, 11, 50, 98, 20, 31, 8 and 10. Tom Reynolds goes for the lead but is unable to manage it.

POSITIONS AFTER PIT 1:

1st -- Cucumbers Caulfield

3rd -- Tamauria Spiders

5th -- Tom Reynolds

7th -- Paul Puffin

9th -- Ben Stover

11th -- Flash Finley

15th -- Nathan Dunkleman

25th -- Sweet Clyde

27th -- Aaliyah Stover

29th -- Takumi Fujiwara

31st -- Travis Elford

33rd -- Fred Orca

35th -- A.I. Kraken

37th -- Lem Tables

39th -- Vasili Mikhailov

41st -- Randy Flamethrower

43rd -- LA Brick

2nd -- Kiki Roseburg

4th -- Airen Slipper

6th -- Egil Van Can

8th -- Jay Wolff

10th -- Selinia Spiders

32nd -- Jayden Slipper

34th -- Violet Carrick

36th -- Manne Love

38th -- Boothby Grafoe

40th -- Leapfrog Jones

42nd -- Dominic Jackson

TURN 8 - HEAT - TOP - Paul Puffin, now in a good position, goes for Cucumbers Caulfield. He's unable to get him but forces the leader to spend his performance chip from the duel, and that sets up Tom Reynolds for a challenge. He is successful, with Caulfield shattered from all these defences, and we have a new leader. NEW LEADER - TOM REYNOLDS.

TURN 9 - PROBLEM - MIDDLE - Selenia Spiders appears to have a cooling problem, but is able to avoid having to face repairs by using her performance boost to clear the issue.

TURN 10 - REFLEX - MIDDLE - Fireplug Fitzpatrick forces Airen Slipper to use a boost to fend them off. We see Nathan Dunkleman head up to 5th position and Prichard move up to 7th from 15th. Egil Van Can continues to drop - it's just not been his day as he now heads the middle group.

TURN 11 - TV - MIDDLE - A dull section of the race, with both Selenia Spiders and Egil Van Can unable to get past Cucumber Caulfield's defensive driving. I'm sensing a pattern here.

TURN 12 - REFLEX - BOTTOM - Four moves manage to stick over these ten miles - Jayden Slipper from 33rd to 21st, Garrad McKinley up to 20th, Urist Tannhauser from 24th to 14th and the story of the day has to be L.A. Brick - he goes from the back of the pack to the top of the middle group in quite sensation scenes!

TURN 13 - TROUBLE - BOTTOM - Not again! The curse of Turn 13 strikes again, and we have a 16 car incident! From minor scrapes and bumps to a full on shed of entire back third of the car for Dominic Jackson, it's a huge mess. Bodywork damage is evident on many cars, but it's clear that most can carry on, with successful repairs from 25, 75, 12, 4, 27, 2, 6, 17 and 54. OUT - DOMINIC JACKSON.

TURN 14 - YELLOW FLAG - The covers go on for Randy Flamethrower and Manne Love, as they just can't continue.

TURN 15 - YELLOW FLAG - The rest of the debris is cleared, but it's game over for four more drivers - A. Stover, Sweet Clyde, Victor Lucky and Elias are all done today.

TURN 16 - HEAT - MIDDLE - GREEN FLAG RACING - We're back under way, with Urist forcing chip use from Tamauria to protect her place. The story of this section is mile 155, where Ben Stover shows excellent strategy. His extra gas from performance last week, plus chip use, pushes him up to 3rd overall, past Roseburg.

TURN 17 - PIT TURN - Nathan Dunkleman has a great surge up the rank, and we have fast pits from Egil Van Can and both of the Spider Sisters! Ben Stover, buoyed by the success of the last section of the race, tries to take the lead from Reynolds but cannot.

Out:

Turn 13: Dominic Jackson (accident).

Turn 14: Randy Flamethrower, Manne Love (irreparable damage).

Turn 15: Aaliyah Stover, Sweet Clyde, Victor Lucky, Elias (irreparable damage).

TURN 18 - REFLEX - TOP - A quiet section after a hectic pit turn, with Cucubmers Caulfield, Nathan Dunkelmand and Tamauria Spiders unable to advance further.

TURN 19 - HEAT - BOTTOM - Two moves within this section, with Cannonball Malone moving from 31st up to 17th, and Takumi Fujiwara making his pit garage cross their fingers as he takes 15th from his own teammate!

TURN 20 - REFLEX - BOTTOM - All the action is at the back, it seems! Emil Ziskie makes a nice move from 31st to 15th during the stint, and Prichard climbs from 20th to 10th; but big scenes from Garrad McKinley. A starred reflex driver, he makes two moves, and he finds himself in 4th place all the way from 30th!

TURN 21 - PROBLEM - MIDDLE - Emil will regret moving up to the middle of the pack, as he finds his brakes begin to overheat. The repairs are successful thanks to his excellent pit crew, but he drops to last place.

TURN 22 - DUEL - MIDDLE - Big action in the middle of the pack, with Airen Slipper under huge pressure. With both drivers targetting him, he loses the duel for eighth to Jay Wolff, and then the duel for ninth to Paul Puffin. Somehow - somehow - he manages to escape trouble both times, and simply settles into tenth position with no further drama.

TURN 23 - SMART - MIDDLE - A couple of moves to tell you about, with Flash Finley making a fine jump from 14th to 4th, Selenia Spiders boosting up to 3rd position, and Airen Slipper making the most of his starred smart skill by heading up to 6th position!

TURN 24 - CONTROL - MIDDLE - Daniel Burman has had enough of stiting back and sees his opportunity, ending up in 7th from 18th by mile 240. Takumi Fujiwara, his teammate, also seizes the opportunity, and heads up to 4th from 18th. Airen Slipper continues his pressure on the top group, now climbing up to third place!

TURN 25 - DUEL - TOP - Big drama at the front! It's a duel and it's Daniel Burman! A considerably skilled driver, Burman puts Reynolds to the sword and takes the lead at mile 247. One and a half miles later, Reynolds is on the radio reporting a problem. His rear end seal has begun to fail, and there's nothing that can be done about that. Tom Reynolds, having lead the race for almost 260 miles, has his car fail underneath him and he's out. OUT - TOM REYNOLDS. NEW RACE LEADER - DANIEL BURMAN!

Turn 26 - REFLEX - MIDDLE - We focus on the middle section for the last part of our race - none of these guys can win at this point, but now it's all about position points. L.A. Brick continues his bizarre race by moving from 19th up to 9th, Egil Van Can finishes a demoralising day by going from 14th to 10th, and we have two moves into the top group. Cucumbers Caulfield heads up to 5th, and we almost have a final turn lead change, as Garrad McKinley, starred for reflex, makes two moves. He heads up to 7th, the top group, then challenges the leader - but Burman has a performance boost and escapes the challenge by the absolute skin of his teeth!

So, the scene is set for an extremely climatic final race. With at least 8 teams mathematically capable of winning the constructor championship, and an equal number able to take the driver's championship, next week should be quite something!
