Try a hammam! Some of them are great and with lots of history behind its walls. A very relaxing experience. If you are a nocturnal soul, there are very good bars around Taksim and Istiklal right beside the hotel. Enjoy the local nightlife!

Pleasant travertine stairs take you to the platform on the first floor where a wooden door hides the treasure of the Topkap suite. The suite is 41 sqm. (441 sq. feet) with a 255 cm. (100 inch) ceiling where an old chandelier illuminates the room.

Located at the ground level of the building and faces towards the historical Sphendone walls. The Hagia Sophia suite is 33.5 sq.m.(360 sq.feet) including the 6 sq.mt. bathroom. The marble decorated bathroom contains a 195 cm. tub with jacuzzi.

Through the main entrance, stairs lead you to the first floor. You enter the suite through the 65 sq.feet platform balcony facing the garden. The suite is 35.5 sqm.(382 sq.feet) with 2.55 mt. (100 inches) provide a spacious atmosphere.

One of my favourite parts of planning my holidays is the hotel selection! Witt Istanbul Suites ticked all of my boxes; a luxury boutique hotel in Beyolu, the newer part of Istanbul city.

The Istanbul local that opened this Beyolu hotel in 2008 commissioned an award winning Turkish design and architecture firm, Autoban, to create the interiors. The result is a very well thought out understated, monochrome and modern-retro vibe that is undeniably stylish.

Witt Istanbul Suites is located in the newer side of the city, Beyolu, specifically in the trendy Cihangir district. It is up one hell of a steep hill (which I climbed once and never again), but the reward is in the sweeping views across the city and Bosphorus river, best experienced from the rooftop garden on top of the hotel.

The understated, contemporary-retro design of the hotel continued into the rooms, with laser cut wooden panels on the wardrobe doors and behind the bed, as well as some beautiful wooden furniture.

Built into the marble island is a sink, fridge and microwave and a kettle and my hotel must have, a Nespresso machine, sit on top. A quick peek through the drawers revealed a decent selection of utensils if you are planning on whipping up your own dinner of an evening. There is a generous (chargeable) minibar as well, with full size spirits and various nibbles in case you get peckish.

The lack of inclusion of general amenities is reflected in the very reasonable price of this luxury hotel and you get an absolutely fantastic hotel room (which is absolutely not lacking on the amenity front) and an extremely attentive concierge who cannot do enough to help ensure you have the best time in Istanbul.

This luxury, boutique Beyolu hotel is everything I look for when selecting a a place to stay for a city break, small, local and unique and I would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Istanbul in a heartbeat.

I have nothing bad to say about it and it really enhanced our stay in the city. One thing I do have to call out is the staff though, they are an absolute credit to the place. While I do love a beautiful hotel and the interiors are indeed exceptionally stylish here, I find it is the people who work there that can ultimately make or break your stay and I have to say, they absolutely made it!

One thing worth noting is that the stretch of Kabasakal Caddesi on which Yesil Ev is situated, as well as Sogukcesme Sokagi (where the other part of the hotel is located), are only accessible to vehicles with a special permit. Therefore, a taxi will not be able to drop you off directly in front of the entrance to Yesil Ev nor at Sogukcesme Sokagi. I will discuss this further in the Location section below. e24fc04721
