VERY IMPORTANT: Public transport to Gaming on Sunday departs from Vienna Airport / Main Train Station between 07:03 to 17:03 (last arrival in Gaming is 19:45)! If you arrive in Vienna later than 17:00 on Sunday it will not be possible to use public transport to the venue. Kindly plan your travels and arrival to Vienna accordingly!
The Kartause venue is in Gaming, Lower Austria, about 170 km (ca. 2.5 hours) by car from Vienna via motorway (see map on main page). The town is reliably reached by public transportation with train and buses that run daily (https://www.oebb.at/en/). Below are the ways you can travel to Gaming along with the approximate times and cost.
Customs and Immigration: International visitors from outside the EU require a valid passport and many citizens (e.g. USA, Canada) can visit the EU without a VISA. Please carefully check EU travel information for up-to-date information to ensure proper documentation or if there are additional VISA requirements for your home country. We cannot assist with obtaining EU VISAs.
Pre- and Post-Conference Transportation Services for Vienna International Airport
The Vienna International Airport (VIE) will be the point of entry or departure in Austria for overseas and international participants.
To assist with your arrival, on Sunday, June 5, we will charter one bus to take participants from the Vienna International Airport bus terminal directly to the IsoEcol Venue at 17:00 ( 5 PM).
One bus is arranged for returning participants to ARRIVE at Vienna International Airport by ~ 09:00 AM on Saturday, June 11. The bus trip takes ~2 hours.
If you do not take return chartered buses, public transportation options take max. 3 hours and depart from the Kartause venue at 9:08, at 12:58 and 14:58. Please note that 9:08 is the earliest you can leave with public transport on Saturday, June 11th!

For Europeans, the Kartause in Gaming can be reached by a combination of air, rail, and bus connections from all directions. New high-speed night rail (Night-Jet) services to Vienna or St. St. Pölten Hauptbahnhof are now available from many major European cities.
Public transit to Gaming from Vienna requires around 3 hours from the Vienna International Airport, depending on connections. Travel involves a combination of high-speed rail and bus. The Regional Bus stop at the door of the conference venue is called "Gaming Kartause". The one-way cost ranges from 30-50 Euros from Vienna's main railway station or the Vienna International Airport.
It is recommended to buy tickets in advance on the internet as this saves time at the airport (ticket machines are often crowded). From the website you will be redirected to Tickets and Services (oebb.at) where you can buy a train ticket to Scheibbs. From Scheibbs you will need to buy an extra ticket for the bus to Gaming Kartause.
Other main rail / bus stations with connections to Gaming include St. Pölten Hauptbahnhof west of Vienna, and approximately 1 hour from Gaming.
Combined tickets for the train and bus can be booked online using Austrian Railways (OBB) website (https://www.oebb.at/en/). Search trips for stations "Flughafen Wien -> Gaming Kartause" if you are coming from the Vienna airport. If you are already staying in Vienna, search for a departure from the main railway station "Wien Hbf (U) -> Gaming Kartause".
OBB has a mobile App in the travel sections of the Apple App Store and Google Play Stores which allows you to book tickets directly on all handheld devices.
Gaming is easily reached by car. Free parking is available at the venue.
