Getting to IsoEcol 2020

The Charterhouse (Kartause) conference venue in Gaming, Lower Austria, is about 150 km by car from Vienna via motorway (see map on main page). The town is easily and reliably reachable by public transportation with train and bus that run frequently (https://www.oebb.at/en/). Below are some of the ways you can travel to Gaming, along with the approximate times and cost.

Customs and Immigration: International visitors from outside the EU require a valid passport and many citizens (e.g. USA, Canada) can visit the EU without a VISA. Please carefully check EU travel information for up-to-date information to ensure proper documentation or if there are additional VISA requirements for your home country. We cannot assist in obtaining VISAs.

Pre- and Post-Conference Transportation Services for Vienna International Airport

Vienna International Airport (VIE) will be the point of entry in Austria for most overseas and international participants.

To assist with your journey, on Sunday, May 31, we will charter travel buses to take participants from Vienna International Airport (VIE) to IsoEcol in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Similarly, buses will be arranged to return participants to Vienna International Airport on Saturday, June 6.

There will be a reasonable fee for this bus service to cover the costs. It will likely be around 20-30 Euros and the trip will take around 2 hours.

Sign-up for this bus service will begin after Conference Registration completion to determine the number of buses, pick-up times, and number of people.

Public Transportation

Gaming can be reached by a combination of air, rail, and bus connections from all directions. Public transit in Austria is excellent, safe, clean, and meticulously on time. Public transit from Vienna requires around 3 hours from Vienna International Airport, depending on the connections. Travel involves a combination of high-speed rail and bus. The Regional Bus stop at the door of the conference venue is called "Gaming Kartause". The one-way cost is approximately 25 Euros from the Vienna main railway station or from Vienna International Airport.

Combined tickets for the train and bus can be booked online using Austrian Railways (OBB) website (https://www.oebb.at/en/). Search trips for stations "Flughafen Wien -> Gaming Kartause" if you are coming from the Vienna airport. If you are already in Vienna, search for departure from the main railway station "Wien Hbf (U) -> Gaming Kartause".

OBB has a mobile App in the travel sections of the Apple App Store and Google Play Stores which allows you to book tickets directly on all handheld devices.

By Car

Gaming is easily reached by car. Free parking is available at the venue.
