Major figures and roles

Islamic Eschatology describes a number of major figures and their roles in the events leading up to the end of the world and the Day of Judgment. Some of the key figures and their roles include:

1. The Antichrist (Dajjal): A false messiah who will emerge before the end of the world and deceive many people with his powers and false miracles. The role of the Antichrist is to test the faith of believers and to sow confusion and chaos in the world.

5. Israfil: An angel who will blow the trumpet (Sur) signaling the end of the world and the resurrection of the dead.

6. Munkar and Nakir: Two angels who will question the souls of the deceased in their graves about their deeds in life. The role of Munkar and Nakir is to determine whether the souls are worthy of paradise or hell.

7. The angels of punishment and reward: Angels who will carry out the judgment of Allah on the Day of Judgment, rewarding the righteous with paradise and punishing the wicked with hell.
