Information Systems in Latin America (ISLA 2020) is an ancillary conference that is part of the Americas Conference of Information Systems (AMCIS 2020). It is organized by the Latin American and Caribbean Chapter of the Association for Information Systems.
Past events: ISLA 2014, ISLA 2015, ISLA2016
The conference aims to discuss Information Systems’ role in society and, more specifically, the ways the discipline has evolved over the years, with special attention to the idiosyncrasies of IS research and practical application in Latin America. Authors are encouraged to submit papers or videos that contribute to the development of IS as a field of study and practice. Particularities of the region should be taken into account whenever they may lead to different approaches or different results to those the field has experienced elsewhere.
This ISLA 2020 ancillary conference will accept rigorous and high-quality IS/IT/MIS research in and about Latin America in Spanish, Portuguese, or English.
The call for papers is now open. Research papers are accepted in English, Spanish or Portuguese.
All accepted papers will be presented in discussion sessions and will appear in the conference e-proceedings and AIS e-Library.
The call for papers is available here: <English>, <Spanish> or <Portuguese>.
MS Word Templates are available for submissions in the three accepted languages: <English>, <Spanish> or <Portuguese>.
Submission until June 30th July 6th at 6am PDT (deadline extended) <here>.
We challenge you to communicate your research in a 5 minute video!
This is a great inclusive opportunity for undergraduate students or master students to present their research projects to a larger crowd and receive some feedback.
Your video may be in any of the three languages of the ISLA Conference: English, Spanish or Portuguese. It should provide an idea of your objective, methodological procedures and obtained (or expected) results. There is no template. Be creative!
Submissions until June 30th July 6th at 6am PDT (deadline extended) <here>.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us: isla2020.video@lacais.org.

Undergraduate and master's students are waived the requirement of paying for membership to participate in ISLA. If you are affiliated to any university in Latin America or the Caribbean as an undergraduate or a master's student and you asked for exemption until the 30th of July, and you registered to the conference through the provided special link, go directly to the app and follow the instructions. So, let us know, by clicking here, that you are entitled to this exemption (other special situations may also be considered).
Everyone else needs to register to AMCIS and choose ISLA 2020 among the ancillary events. After you have registered to AMCIS, use the app to navigate to the conference virtual rooms.
There is no registration cost to participate in AMCIS, EICIS, PACIS and/or ISLA in 2020 for individuals who live in the Latin American and Caribbean region (Human Development Index: low, medium, or high). However, one must be an AIS member to register to any or all of those conferences. Memberships for faculty members and doctoral students have differentiated prices based on their country of residence (check here).
The AIS Policy on Conference and Journal Publication encourages conference papers to be published in journals. This policy applies to AIS conferences (there are no copyright issues to prevent your AIS conference paper from being published in any journal (AIS or not)), and to AIS journals (there are no restrictions preventing you from submitting your conference paper to an AIS journal). Many non-AIS journals have similar policies, so you can submit your AIS conference paper to them. The policy and list of non-AIS journals with similar policies, is available at the Policy page.
A selection of papers accepted to ISLA 2020 will be consider for inclusion in a special issue of RELCASI.
