Knittelvers is a common German meter for secular and lyric poetry, and was the perfect choice for a German late-period persona. Working in the event, date, and other required information into the verse was a bonus:

Once, our Queen said to her King,

“From all Atlantia, should you bring

Me one as skilled in art as war,

My heart will beam forevermore.”

For Queen and Kingdom ever-serving,

King Christoph found a man deserving

In Marburg-town, and brought him hence --

Full artful in cloth, wood, and fence.

The Queen’s bright smile at once returned
