Could any here Leviathan entrap or hook?
No angler’s rod nor rope could tie its tongue, so who
Among you now would pierce its jaw or face its look?
Should Writhing Deep ask mercy, whisper softly, too?
Live caged, a tropic bird in gentlewomen’s ear,
Exchanged or sold by merchants, profits split in two?
Harpoon shafts on his twisting towers splinter sheer.
No fishing lance could e’er the Kraken’s curtain breach;
the crenellated beast, heart’s parchment inks with fear.
Dim resistance dies, a falsehood preached
By murk-cloak’d eyes which, underwater, cloud
Your senses. Past the beast’s dread surface, none can reach.
Should contemplating writhing Kraken shroud
Your mind, how could you draw against its human form?
Leviathan here stands, one Carlyle Jamesson, proud --
So come, Atlantia’s foes, stare down a raging storm.
