長崎生まれのノーベル賞作家 カズオ・イシグロが2024年11月8日、古希（70歳）のお誕生日を迎えられます。
そこで長年イシグロ文学を愛し、研究してきた日英の大学教員、読者が長崎に集い、この記念すべき日を世界のイシグロ愛読者・研究者と一緒にオンラインでお祝いしようと「祝古希カズオ・イシグロ誕生日会＠長崎」を計画いたしました。このパーティーには長崎市長、英国のイシグロ研究の第一人者、映画プロデューサーにもご参加いただきます。
イシグロが5歳まで過ごした長崎の旧イシグロ邸のお庭から、Zoomでの配信という形で、作家イシグロのこれまでの歩み、イシグロ文学と長崎との結びつき、国内外のイシグロ研究の最新動向などについてご紹介するとともに、来夏公開予定の映画『遠い山なみの光』への期待などについても語り合えたらと思います。
また、本イベントは、新たな学会組織、日本カズオ・イシグロ協会設立に向けての文学研究者、学生のネットワークづくりとともに、イシグロ文学を愛する読者、出版業界、メディア関係者との結びつきを広げていくことを目的としています。
Kazuo Ishiguro (1954-), Nagasaki-born Nobel Prize-winning author, will be 70 years old on 8 November 2024.
So we have planned the ‘Kazuo Ishiguro's 70th Birthday Party @ Nagasaki’ to celebrate this memorable day online with Ishiguro lovers and researchers from all over the world. We are inviting to this party, not only readers and university professors, but also the Mayor of Nagasaki, publishers and a film producer.
From the garden of the former Ishiguro residence in Nagasaki, where Ishiguro spent his childhood until the age of five, we will introduce the author's history, the connection between Ishiguro's literature and Nagasaki, and the latest trend in Ishiguro studies in Japan and abroad via Zoom, and discuss the expectations for the film ‘A Pale View of Hills’ to be released next summer.
This event is planned to make a network of scholars and students as well as general readers, publishers and mass media larger and aims to establish a new academic organization, the Kazuo Ishiguro Society of Japan in the near future.
カズオ・イシグロ Profile of Kazuo ISHIGURO
カズオ・イシグロは1954年長崎生まれ。5歳のときに海洋学者の父の研究のため、家族で渡英。ケント大学で英文学、哲学、イースト・アングリア大学（修士）で創作を学ぶ。1980年以来、作家として活動。妻と娘とイギリス在住。これまで発表した8つの長編小説のうち、最初の二作は日本を舞台とする。1989年ブッカー賞、2017年ノーベル文学賞を受賞。長崎を舞台にした『遠い山なみの光』の映画版が2025年8月に公開予定。
Kazuo Ishiguro was born in Nagasaki in 1954. When he was five, the family moved to England, where his father, an oceanographer, had been invited to work at a research institute. He studied at the Univ. of Kent and at the Univ. of East Anglia, where he earned a MA degree in 1980. Since then he has worked as a writer. His first two novels out of 8 long novels are set in Japan. He won Booker Prize in 1989 and Nobel Prize of Literature in 2017. A Pale View of Hills set in Nagasaki is to be filmed in summer, 2025.

長崎市長。長崎出身。国土交通省勤務を経て2023年より現職。8月9日原爆の日には、犠牲者追悼、恒久平和への想いを世界に発信。Mayor of Nagasaki since 2023 after working at the MLIT (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism); on 9 Aug. (Atomic Bomb Day), he, born and raised in Nagasaki, sends out a message to the world in remembrance of the victims and a desire for lasting peace.

1991年生まれ。株式会社U-NEXT 編成制作本部 映画調整部 所属。2025年夏公開予定の石川慶監督 映画『遠い山なみの光』を企画・プロデュース。ロンドン大学ゴールドスミス校修士にて映画制作を学び、帰国後、スタジオ地図にて細田守監督作『竜とそばかすの姫』の制作プロデューサーを務めた。
He is currently producing the film adaptation of "A Pale View of Hills" directed by Kei Ishikawa to be released in 2025.
He studied filmmaking production at Goldsmiths, University of London, MA Filmmaking (Producing) in the UK and previously produced the animation feature film "Belle" by Mamoru Hosoda at STUDIO CHIZU.
