Our mission is to develop affordable, selective and field-deployable sensing technologies for water, agriculture and environmental monitoring.
Conventional analytical measurements often depend on centralised laboratories, expensive instruments, trained personnel and periodic sample collection. This limits the ability to obtain high-frequency measurements across large geographical areas.
Indriya Sensotech is developing sensor systems that bring measurement closer to the point of use.
The technology combines:
target-specific functional sensing materials;
solid-state and electrochemical transduction;
portable electronic instrumentation;
embedded signal processing;
wireless and IoT connectivity;
geotagged and time-stamped measurements;
digital dashboards and historical data management.
The objective is not simply to produce individual sensors, but to develop complete sensing systems capable of converting a chemical interaction into actionable field data.
Water-quality and agricultural monitoring frequently rely on laboratory testing or specialised analytical instruments.
These techniques can provide excellent analytical accuracy, but large-scale monitoring presents several practical challenges:
samples must often be collected and transported to laboratories;
measurements may represent only isolated sampling events;
sophisticated instruments can be expensive to deploy at multiple locations;
different contaminants may require different analytical methods;
frequent monitoring requires significant manpower and logistics;
spatial and temporal variations can remain undetected between sampling events;
field operators may not have immediate access to measurement results.
For applications such as groundwater surveillance, drinking-water monitoring, river-basin studies and agricultural nutrient management, there is a need for compact systems capable of performing measurements directly in the field.
Indriya Sensotech is addressing this gap through selective sensor materials integrated with portable electronics and connected data systems.
Here we have designed a conjugated polymer to detect a particular analyte with specific functional moieties that can interact with the targeted analyte. The conjugation on the backbone further amplifies the response. This specific interaction mechanism is also elucidated and confirmed by molecular modelling and simulation. These optimized molecules are used to fabricate an electronic device to manifest the analyte-sensor interaction to a signal. The IoT-based system is developed around these devices to create both real-time data and database creation for later use.
At current, prototypes are ready and data collection reliability measurements are underway. By the end of Q1-2023, several units will be ready for field testing by interested organizations.
