The Reason Why We Clash

It has always been a question why Clash Royale has had a huge spike in player count in the past few months. Clash Royale is a video game that was developed by Supercell on March 2nd, 2016. In the past few months, recently, it took everyone's attention by storm and became a global phenomenon. All of this was thanks to one of the biggest YouTubers/streamers in the world, Jynxzi.
Who is Jynxzi?
Twitch streamer and YouTube content creator Jynxzi, also known as Nicholas Stewart (born September 26, 2001), began streaming in January 2019 (Jynxzi - Wikipedia). For some people, he is seen as an inspirational figure because of the hard work and motivation he has put in to achieve his current status. At the start (for 365 streams), he streamed to an average of 1 viewer. Later, he averaged a viewcount of 10-300 for multiple years and decided not to stop. (Jynxzi Twitch Statistics). In a later stream, he talked about this time of his life and mentioned: “It was exhausting but I never gave up hope and had this feeling like it was just about to pay off. I’m a big believer in betting on yourself and that was what that year was all about; doing the work. I had to prove that this crazy dream wasn’t all that crazy. Anything is possible.” In 2023, his channel blew up in subscribers and view counts. This was mainly due to the fact that other people uploaded short clips of Jynxzi’s stream on TikTok. One of the famous clips showcased how Jynxzi was trying to unpack the famous Jäger black ice (a weapon skin obtainable in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege). In April 2023, subscriber-wise, Jynxzi was the number one Twitch streamer in the world. Since then, Jynxzi has been one of the biggest and greatest streamers of all time.
Statistics
Before the recent uprise in interest for Clash Royale, the game was unfortunately experiencing a steady level of decline. Looking at statistics from 2024, it is shown that its total number of monthly active users had slipped to around 4-6 million, suggesting a slowing down for what was once one of the most well-known and popular mobile games around (Knezovic). However, since its rediscovery through major updates and its increased presence among streams such as Jynxzi, its total number of monthly active users increased exponentially to around thirty million, which is one of Clash Royale’s most successful comebacks to date. Although annual revenue fell to around $238 million in 2023 (an all-time low), it surged again shortly after and reached a peak of $3.8 million in a single day in 2025, the highest daily total since 2021 (Astle). Total lifetime revenue has also surpassed $4 billion, highlighting the game's full financial comeback and reinforcing its status as one of the most successful mobile games to date. (Nayden)
Conclusion
Overall, from the statistics presented, there is significant evidence of Clash Royale making a major comeback after its downturn in early 2023, and most of this revival is linked to the exposure through individuals like Jynxzi. This is because his massive following on Twitch and YouTube brought the game to millions of users each time he played or reacted to major events within the game, thus making it exciting for them to engage with it or learn about it for the first time. This resulted in several million players being active within the game and spending money on its upgrades or purchases, thus aiding Supercell to recover its earnings. Jynxzi’s role helped make Clash’s comeback to become one of the most popular mobile games in the world.
