Whose Body? is written by British Author Dorothy L. Sayers (1893-1957), an author with a passion for clarity of language and thought. The book reviewed is the first book in the Lord Peter Wimsey mystery series. One morning, a body is discovered in a bathtub—completely unclothed except for a pince-nez*. The police are baffled by the identity of the corpse and Lord Peter Wimsey, London’s witty, dapper bachelor and amateur detective is called to the scene. Together with his valet, Mervin Bunter, Lord Peter sets out to solve the case that could turn out to be more perilous than he expects. Whose Body? is for mystery fans who enjoy complex characters, twisting plots, and the dry humor characteristic of British detective stories. But be careful – you might end up falling in love with Lord Peter and get sucked into the rest of the series!
