Last week I finished reading the Lunar chronicles series (Excluding the 3.5 and the Levana backstory book). This series is a cinderella story retelling, where cinderella is a cyborg and the story is set in the future. In this world, if you have an accident and damage a limb or body part, you can get that part replaced and become a cyborg. However, cyborgs are treated really badly, and so many people try to hide the fact that they are cyborgs out of shame or embarrassment caused by the cultural stigma. The story’s main character is, in fact, a cyborg called Cinder. She has replaced a hand and forearm as well as a leg and some other parts of her body. She tries to cover these up by wearing thick boots, long trousers and gloves. However, things get tricky when Prince Kai comes to her, saying he knows that she is the best mechanic in town and wants her to fix his android. She agrees to fix the android but thanks to this, the horrible letumosis plague that haunts the earth and a bit of luck she ends up discovering something about her past that changes her whole world, as well as meeting criminals, lunars (people who live on the moon), hackers, more androids and a lot of weird but good people.
I would highly recommend reading this series to anyone who likes fantasy and sci-fi stories. It puts an interesting twist on an old story that has you reading all through day and night. Sometimes the story does progress a little slowly, but there's tons of secrets, romance, action and plot twists as well as hilarious moments to make up for it. 10/10.
