Café Reviews!

Listen to Our Podcast: Beyond The Mic!
In this series of articles, we will test three cafés that sell similar products and then review them. There are four catagories that we will rate them on: taste of the product, price, size and portion and friendliness and speed of service. In this article, we will be trying the three main bubble tea shops in Delft: Nice Tea, Orintea and Lily's Bubble Tea. To keep the comparison fair, we ordered the same flavour at each café: Brown Sugar
Café #1: Nice Tea
Taste: 9/10
We gave this a 9, because we thought that the taste was very flavourful. It was quite strong, so it had quite a strong taste of tea. The tapioca was quite good and average.
Price: 6/10
We chose this rating because the price was average, and was reasonable, but worth it for the taste
Size and Portion: 7/10
We got the medium size for everything, and this portion was good, filling, not too much but not too little either.
Service: 8/10
The staff was very friendly and fast. Also, the shop has quite a lot of tables and is spacious.
Cafe #2: Orintea
Taste: 6/10
The taste was quite bitter, even with normal sugar. It did kind of grow on you as you drank it. So, if you like it quite bitter, then this one is good. The tapioca was a bit weird, small, and sometimes hard.
Price: 7/10
The price was good, but it is still the Netherlands, so things are quite expensive, but it wasn’t too bad. It was the least expensive
Size and Portion: 9/10
The portion was very good. We asked for extra tapioca and ordered the medium, but they gave us the big cup. The cup itself was also very nice, as it was reusable, and the lid was also reusable and spillproof.
Service: 8/10
Also here, the staff was very friendly, asked all the details, and was fast. The shop was quite small and didn’t have many tables, but it was very cozy.
Cafe #3: Lily's Bubble Tea
Taste: 8/10
The taste was very good and was the milkiest of all. It was also the sweetest. The tapioca was very good and was freshly made. It was very chewy and big, but not too much.
Price: 6/10
The price was average, but as with the Nice Tea, also this one was quite reasonable and worth it.
Size and Portion: 7/10
The portion was the smallest of all, but also the widest, and we felt satisfied with the portion.
Service: 8/10
The service was very fast and friendly. The waiter was only one and was very fast for being only one. The shop was quite small, though, and didn’t have a lot of places to sit.
All of the shops were very good, and all had their pro and cons. We also only ordered the brown sugar, so we can only compare this one. Our general advice is: If you like a more tea taste, then go to Nice Tea. If you like more of a milky, sweeter taste, go to Lilly's Bubble tea, and if you like more of a bitter taste, then go to Orintea. This is also our opinion, so you might like something we do not, etc.
