BlackBerry embraced open standards, and included a variety of open source libraries out of the box including: Lua, OpenAL, cocos2d-x, and Box2D, and has an open source repository that can be accessed at GitHub.com/blackberry. This open ecosystem helps developers target multiple platforms through partnerships with Appcelerator, Apache Cordova, dojo, jQuery Mobile, Marmalade, NME, Qt, and Sencha Touch.[31]

Just another idea on how to boost things a bit: I think everyone agrees that your #1 solution is the key point. Selling more phones is essential. Besides BlackBerry having to do that hard job by themselves, I believe it would be great move if BlackBerry would offer all their phones (including the Z3) on their ShopBlackBerry.com online store for world-wide shipping. Then - and this is the key - they set up an affiliate program for that store and invite all app developers & community sites to take advantage of that. Thus, on each sale the affiliate gets a commission. We could all then reach out to our customer & user bases - which I believe are absolutely massive if you look at them combined - and help sell more phones. It would be beneficial to all sides, I believe. Short-term income for BlackBerry and us as well as a bigger customer base in the mid-term.

For a site like CrackBerry, an additional incentive doesn't matter. Affiliate program or not we're going to blog about phones and apps regardless as part of our daily editorial strategy that keeps readers (like you!!) coming back. If affiliate programs exist for us to earn some additional revenue on the phone and app sales we refer, that would be great (it means more CrackBerry giveaways for you!!), but if it doesn't we're still going to sell like hell! Ultimately, we just want there to be a lot of happy BlackBerry users in the world and happy BlackBerry developers too - that's when a site like CrackBerry succeeds.

Given the state of the BlackBerry world (and the whole world for that matter), it didn't feel like the smartest business opportunity for me to pursue. At the same time, I also felt like if I didn't buy it the most likely outcome for the future of CrackBerry would be its eventual deletion. In a world that values growth above all else, it doesn't make sense to throw time and money and energy at supporting something on a rapid decline.

Outside of tech, I also want to explore areas that appeal to me where I think the CrackBerry way of covering them will add value and resonate with a lot of others. Topics like health, home, money and hobbies are all on the table. We'll stick to producing original content done in a way that's honest and fun, and stay away from topics that get too serious. The world is serious enough as it is, so CrackBerry should be a place that leans to the side of lighthearted. Oh, and we'll have LOTS of giveaways. Because winning free stuff is the BEST.

The Columbia Star Thornless Blackberry is another exciting new addition to the blackberry world courtesy of the USDA and Oregon State University! Columbia Star has the beloved Marionberry in its lineage and the flavor of these large berries has been rated as good or even better than the Marionberry! Vines are vigorous and trailing and fruits ripen in mid July here in the Willamette Valley. Another added bonus for the Columbia Star is that it is reportedly even more cold hardy than the Marionberry. Fruit is easy to pick by hand or by machine harvesting making it a winner for home gardeners as well as commercial growers.

RIM CEO and President Thorsten Heins took the stage at BlackBerry World 2012 in Orlando this morning to not only showcase elements of RIM's new mobile platform, but to show the world that his company isn't ready to give up yet. RIM is betting the farm on BlackBerry 10, an entirely new platform that's focused on virtual keyboards, shifting away from the legacy of physical keyboards and BlackBerry 7.

Mallick continued, "When people get BB10 devices, they're going to be looking for certain apps... We have Skype committed to BB10, Amazon Kindle, Whatsapp, SAP, Angry Birds... over 1,000 of top applications from around the world committed to BB10."

For example, one app made by S4BB is a "camera scanner" that converts photos to PDF files. Another turns off the sounds in your camera app. There are also hundreds of world factbooks, subway maps and city guides.

BlackBerry can produce all of the nicest phones in the world if it wants, but the low standards it has for the apps in its app store, and the seemingly minimal effort it has put into trying to improve it, ultimately contributed to the once-venerable company's demise.

BlackBerry MVS unifies corporate phone systems with wireless communications allowing employees to cost effectively and securely make and take desk phone calls practically anywhere in the world on their BlackBerry smartphones. BlackBerry MVS 5 supports calls over cellular or Wi-Fi networks with automatic, prompted or manual handoff between these networks based on employee or administrator preferences. Calls are routed through the company's phone system, with a set of IT policies and controls for administrators to set least-cost routing for savings on long-distance and international roaming charges. Call routing through the corporate phone system also helps with adherence to company policies and regulatory compliance requirements.
